I don't think the device driver is the problem. Recent versions of Windows includes device drivers for optical drives including CD and DVD burners. Usually, the only time you need to download and install a device driver is if you are using an older Windows version, for example, device drivers for Windows 98.
I use Nero to burn my DVD. Every so often I insert a blank DVD in to the drive and the blank shows up as a CD. I ignore it and burn it anyway. I don't have any problems burning to the DVD.
The only suggestions I can offer is to try burning it even if the DVD blank shows up as a CD. In addition, try changing to another brand of DVD blanks. Oftentimes, no name brand DVD blanks are cheap but they can cause problems. Try using Sony, TDK or Memorex

The driver for your drive is already built in within Windows. Try this....use your Hardware Device Manager to locate your Lite-On drive. Right click on that. Choose "Uninstall". Once that's done, reboot your computer and Windows should recognize the drive as "new hardware" and re-install it with the correct driver.
Now try putting in a blank DVD to burn. Good luck.

It should have come with the driver, the most likely cause is whatever program you are trying to burn the disc with is not up to date and recognizing the burner. Go to whatever program you are using and get the latest version.
