Unfortunately for you, dogs and cats are two different species with different dietary needs. Canned and packaged pet foods are nutritionally balanced towards the pets they are intended. While neither a car or dog will die from eating the other's food, they have different protein, fat, carbohydrate, caloric and vitamin needs. You're going to have to buy separate foods to keep your pets nutritionally sound.

It really isnt good for your animals, but dogs will eat cat food, and they will most likley enjoy doing so. However, I do not reccommend it. Just think if you had to eat banannas and whatever monkeys eat. How would that feel?
