Do not go to Claire's. Piercing boutiques use piercing guns. Guns cannot be effectively sterilized and pose the risk of carrying infections. They might be able to sterilize the 'foot' and the needle, however, the actual working parts cannot be sterilized. On top of that, guns were originally designed to pierce, not human ears, but cattle ears for the purpose of tagging them (not exactly the noblest way to get pierced). The piercer there also has minimal to no medical knowledge (as they are little more than a glorified cashier), and has taken a crash course in piercing. Boutiques also use outdated aftercare advice, including the use of alcohol-based products to clean the piercing (which wind up hurting more than healing).
Instead, go to an APP-associated professional piercer in your area. They normally have their own body piercing parlors, or are in tattoo parlors. Unlike the boutique's piercer (who treats a piercing as a job to get done and overwith), the professional piercer treats each and every piercing as an artform to be perfected. They will also use pre-packaged one-use needles or needles sterilized in an autoclave as opposed to guns. The actual piercing room will look very much akin to a doctor's office in cleanliness (and we all know what the piercing area of Claire's looks like, right there in the open, where all the little kids with runny noses who just played with their dogs before going shopping can just come up and touch everything in sight).
In the end, you might pay more to have it done professionally, but it is cleaner, safer, the aftercare info is more thorough, and well worth it to have two evenly spaced piercings (as opposed to loppy ones that I've seen done from boutiques).

Body piercing studio. Most tattoo studios have a piercer now. Claires is scary. They have no training and most likely no health codes to follow.

that depends on where you live...most doctors don't do ear peircings anymore so go to a top rated tattoo/peircing parlor in you town...if you don't have one just go to Clair's...also some beauty parlors do ear piercings too.
