Yes he was, he started off jewish then he realized how messed up the jewish religion was (god sent him down to show everyone this) so he became the first catholic, and helped convert many many people to catholisism, other christian religions branched off from catholic, but it was the first christian religion and yes jesus was catholic,

In the sense that catholic is "universal" yes, I suppose He is. But Jesus would not have been a member of the RCC. For one thing, Jesus would never have recognized any pope, nor would Peter have known what the heck you were talking about if you told him he was the 'pope', since both Peter and Paul deferred to the authority of the church in Jerusalem, which was being led at that time by James, the brother of Christ. I just can't see Peter with expensive robes, or a ring, nor can I even imagine his reaction if someone were to kneel in front of him to kiss his ring.
Jesus is NOT Jewish. Jesus is God. God does not have a nationality, or an ethnicity. God is the God of every single being on the planet, and if there is life on other planets, then He is their God as well.
Don't let anyone fool you, Jesus IS GOD!!

He was Jewish - NOT CATHOLIC, and he was NOT Invented. Even world History identifies him as real - good grief! The catholic church came much, much later. The word Catholic means universal and many catholics will say they are the first church, but that is a lie. The bible shows the first church was in Antioch and they were Spirit filled, tongue talking, healing, casting out demon, CHRISTIANS. Denominations is man's traditions and modifications to the Holy word of God..STICK TO ONLY THE WORD and you'll save yourself from all the LIES of this - world...Jesus studied the Jewish ways under the old testament and was the only person to fulfill the Law of Old testament without sin -- the whole old testament stories are excellent types and shadows pointing to the ultimate sacrfice of Jesus, in order to allow salvation and justification for those who seek God's truth and believe----other than that, another more unselfhish man NEVER walked this earth.

No, there was not such thing at the time. He was Jewish, it was John the baptist that started the Catholic church after Jesus was killed. The legend goes that Jesus did not believe in organized churches, so he would have not been a party to something like that. He was considered a religious terrorist of that time. Other Jews who did not follow him thought that he was dangerous, and wanted him dead. It is also the reason Jews today do not believe him to be the son of God. Which is stupid, as I think everything about religion is stupid. But if God exists, then are we not all children of God. Dumb stupid irrational religions it's all a bunch of crap.

Well according to the other responses, Jesus was Jewish. Yes, He did go the the synagogues & all, but if you really read the Bible, you'll find that He disagreed w/ a lot of what the Pharisees, Saduccees, rabbi's, etc (all the religious leaders of the day) said. So, I would say He was not Catholic (that denomination didn't even exist back then), but I wouldn't really say He was Jewish, since He clearly pointed out that MANY of their teachings were incorrect.....

No, He was a Jew.
Even if Catholicism existed, He couldn't be a Catholic. Catholics believe the Catholic church is the way to God, but Jesus stated in John 14:6 "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no one comes to the Father, except by Me."

Wow no he was not catholic he was Jewish because he lived in Jerusalem. He didn't join a catholic church or anything because there wasn't one. He didn't follow a religion people followed him, he started christianity. Christianity and Catholicism... two different things. Catholics are Christian, all Christians not necessarily Catholic. I wondered when i was younger why i was catholic if Jesus was a Jew and then i realized its all crap there are so many points in which religion contradicts its self and sounds too ridiculous so I try to just ignore it all now.blah

No, I wouldn't say Jesus was "Catholic."
Catholicism occurred as the result of the apostles going out after Jesus's death to spread Jesus's teachings and create a religion, so it would have been impossible for Jesus to be a Catholic. You might be able to say that Jesus was at the roots of Catholicism, but Jesus didn't tell anyone to go out and create the form of religion that is now called Catholicism (even though that's what many Catholics believe--that they belong to an "apostolic" church that was descended directly from Jesus's contact with the apostles).

Jesus was the start of the church. So obviously no denominations existed when he came. He was Jewish, but obviously also a Christian, because He was and is the Christ and believed in obeying God in everything, which is what Christians are supposed to do, and that is made possible by Christ alone.
What a bizarre question.
I think you need to read the Bible more often.
