The people who buy them. Even with gun enforcement laws, you won't get guns off the street because then only the criminals have guns and the law abiders do not.

The problem is, it is against the law to own an automatic weapon. Its against the law to commit a crime with a gun. The problem is, the gun itself doesnt do anything without a nut holding it. You can take a loaded gun, lay it on a table, and it will never go off, unless someone picks it up and pulls the trigger.

Morton Grove banned guns and crime went way up. If you look at the National Crime statistics, in rural areas, where most everyone owns a gun, home burlaries are down, home invasions are down and robberies are down. A crook will not go into a place where there is a better than 80% chance the owner had a gun and knows how to use it.

The problem is not guns on the street, which is an over-used cliche, but rather guns in the hands of people who shouldn't have them and who break the law. If it were up to me I would greatly increase the penalty for the ILLEGAL possession, transport, and sale of guns while at the same time mandate national concealed carry reciprocity. Just as no state can refuse to honor another state's drivers liscense, no state should be allowed to refuse to honor another state's concealed carry permit.

Punishing the rest of us for the actions of criminals is not the answer. Law-abiding citizens should be allowed to own and carry guns with minimal restrictions.
