YOu know, people went to church every Sunday, women were fully clothed neck to ankle and at least acted frigid , most people believed the bible as true history of our origin, slavery, lynching, killing every animal and "savage" in sight once we got to new land.................AHHH the good ol' days......

Randy
would you like to enlighten us on how Christians brought about the end of slavery?
Dear, secular loving Europe ended it about 100 years before we caught up.

Hey, Christianity is by no means innocent, but it's also not the worst gang out there...Yeah, they were the driving force behind the Spanish Inquisition, but they also preserved ancient texts and sponsored the literacy to learn about it. Yeah, they did some bigotist things (like mission work, slavery, etc), but they also did some humanitarian things, too--abolitionism, Salvation Army, etc. Yeah, they were pretty stupid in some of the decisions they made regarding the rest of the world, but I'd contend that the only difference between the Christians and--the Muslims, for example, is that the Christians made it out of the dark ages about 600 years ago.
As for going to church on Sunday and frigid women, I can't really blame them for espousing firmer moral fiber than is broadcast to the masses today. Again, maybe they coulda changed a couple things here and there, but overall, I wouldn't say they're that much worse than anyone else out there.
I'm not Christian, by the way, just a big believer in FREEDOM OF RELIGION. If you don't like it, fine. Don't practice it. But don't bash on someone else for their beliefs if you don't want someone spankin on you for yours. They did come up with the Golden Rule, which is a goody no matter WHAT your faith.

There have always been "fringe elements" in every society, even in Christianity.. I like where I am, but i appreciate the "Little House" lifestyle that most christians lived in early America, and I would love to lean on Jesus at supper like a child trusting The Father.. But these ARE the good days, because the time is at hand and Christ could come at any moment for His Church-- yes, His Church, not what you imagine through your darkened sarcastic vision.. Then will I know even as I am known, and all my questions will be answered, And I will see Jesus, The Living God, and the Holy Spirit.

Nah..I like it better now with
The great crystal meth, crack, alcohol, overcrowded prisons, large and robust STD selection, lack of respect between parents and children, out of control teen sex, cities so violent there is at lease 2 murders a night, kids with no idea who their father is, mothers with different kids by different fathers, rapes, young kids dressing like prostitutes and boys who never heard of a belt, out of control violence passing as entertainment, taking home women who really are men, doped up athletes, no discipline with diet that has obese people everywhere,....AAAAHHHH you are so right how terrible the old days were.
By the way, Christ says not to kill and to treat others as you would be treated. So therefore if you are a Christian you don't kill and you dont enslave. Therefore explain again how those acts were caused by Christians again? I thought so.
Atheist should do a little more thinking before pressing the send buttton

Before you ask those questions please do a little study. Catholic church buildings are accountable for a few of the dangerous matters that occur “to not point out there aggression closer to lady” But ladies was once now not simply the sufferers. If you appear at your historical past of Queens you are going to discover Mary I (18 February 1516 – 17 November 1558) was once Queen regnant of England and Ireland from July 1553 till her demise. She was once the eldest daughter of Henry VIII and simplest surviving little one of Catherine of Aragon. As the fourth topped monarch of the Tudor dynasty, she is remembered for restoring England to Roman Catholicism after succeeding her quick-lived Protestant part brother, Edward VI. In the procedure, she had practically three hundred devout dissenters burned on the stake within the Marian Persecutions, incomes her the sobriquet of "Bloody Mary". Her re-established order of Roman Catholicism was once reversed by way of her successor and part-sister, Elizabeth I.

Christians may have played a big roll in slavery but Christianity did not. The crusades were also very much against the teachings of our religion, but they were led by those who professed to be Christians.
I have absolutely no desire to return to the "good 'ol days", since then, as now, there were still many evils. It is possible for one to claim to be Christian and still do wrong. It is possible to be a Christian and do wrong. If, however we are to get the blame for the wrong done by Christians past then do we not also get praise for things which were done by believers also?

The "good old days", were full of a lot of Religion, and a lot of church people condemning folks, going by the letter of that Bible, instead of the Spirit which makes alive. It worked death ,(the legalistic) way. I was reared in that religious , hard way, and it made me run from God. But I found out He loved me as is, and it freed me! It is ok to go to church, but dont condemn those who don't. Nobody knows hearts but God. I am looking for the good new day, where there is peace, God's love, and some compassion and mercy working.

Christianity was responsible for the end of slavery, sorry. Actually, lynching is not taught anywhere in the NT. And disliking America is hardly becoming of you

it is foolish to think about that. the old day was not that Good, or at least slavery was not a good thing. These people who practiced slavery will face God for God creates us all and the bible tells us that God has no favoritism.

Exactly which century of the oppression of women by men are you referring to? And why only pick on Christianity? Religious oppression often reflected the social, cultural, political climate of the time and vice versa regardless of the religion du jour.

You have a very narrow view of Christianity. Why are you demonstrating such a hidden anger? Has someone who was a Christian done you wrong? Choose to be a non christian, but not in anger, doing so only defiles you own belief system.
