If it's a canopy bed, spruce it up with light ribbons and a light canopy and no one will notice the black.

Well now you seem to be in quite the quandary hating black and all. I suggest you take the bed outside while it is nice and warm and paint it white or any other color you choose. Just go down to you local Lowes and buy you a couple of cans of spray paint and little 220 grit sand paper. You take the sand paper and give the bed a quick once over , naturally this is done after you wash the metal and let it dry. Once you have gone over it with the sand paper take a tack rag( oh yea pick this up at Lowes while you are getting the other stuff) once you have gone over it with the tack rag spray it with your new spray paint. Follow the directions on the can and you will have a really nice bed in the color you want not black. I hope this helps.

Black is a "dingy" color you can say. You could always find a white comforter with some other colors in it and pull accessories from that. For example: If you see a white comforter with a couple black stripes and then some flower prints or whatever print is on it you can take those colors and put them in the pillows, drapes, and even the rug.

Black is not a color, you can use color to add to it. Treat it as a basic non-color, find a personal theme of the style you want to accomplish... also a favourite color (something that you will not tire of)... work from there!

Eg.. if you like flowers, go floral... victorian, go lace, modern, go sleek monotones etc.
