Why are you afraid of hospitals? esp if you are not the patient? Your friend could probably feel a lot better if he has a caring person like you visit him. it might make all the difference in the world with him getting better. right now he probably feels all alone in the world and forgotten. see if you could bring him something to cheer him up and be close by.It will help so much and you will find out you are not so afraid after all. it won't be the unknown anymore.

Try going with a friend. It is important to not be afraid of hospitals. My friend was the same way, would not enter a hospital when his friend was ill. We had to take pictures at the hospital and bring them home for him to view. The sad part about all this is, my friend who was afraid of hospitals, was ill but would not tell any of us because he did not want to go to a hospital. He is now having kidney failure, had to have 2 pints of blood, and will not be released until next week. Had he not been afraid of hospitals, he would not have endured so much pain by himself nor allowed the disease to go on for so long while destroying his body. Best of Luck ! Go See Your Friend !

This seems like it would be an excellent time for you to deal directly with your fears - go to the hospital. Since you won't be there for your own health issue, you can deal with your anxiety in a different way. And, of course, if your friend is there you shouldn't neglect them simply because you have a small phobia. The experience will be good for both of you.

It seems to me that now is a good time to beat the 'hospital monster'. The boy is in there alone, but at least you can walk out whenever you wish.

Go see him, Ruth. Hospitals aren't all the big scarey places they're painted to be.

Yes...times like this call for putting your own fears aside to be supportive of another person. If he knows how afraid of hospitals you are, then he'll really know you care for him if you go see him.

Plus, they're not going to do anything to you. You're not sick!

Is it because you're afraid of germs? If so, think about this logically: think about the hundreds of thousands (perhaps millions) of people who visit hospitals each year and are just fine. There is nothing to worry about. If you're worried about germs, think about how many millions of germsn live on your body, just by living your life. There's no escaping them. If this kid is important to you, then I think you should face your fears and go.
