Does anyone know how to make an Air Conditioner out of a compressor and a waste oil heater and other sundry parts?

Basically an air conditioner is a heat transfer device using a compressible fluid. Your run of the mill pneumatic (air) compressor won't do the job very efficiently. As I recall, ammonia is one of the best refrigerants, but well, has a certain health risk that makes is least common to use.

I honestly would not recommend this as a do-it-yourself project. First of all, it probably won't work. Secondly, unless you manage to get the right refrigerant for your compressor, it most likely won't work well if it does work. Third, if you do succeed, you will have likely spent more time and money than a cheap unit. Take some time and learn about refrigerants and cooling cycles if you do want to succeed.

If you need some relief and cooling, there are other more attainable means. The aforementioned swamp cooler is one. Simple fans are another. During high heat/humidity situations your body wants to sweat to cool down, but the persperation won't evaporate as quickly due to the high humidity. Moving air over your skin helps the evaporation.

If u are going to design an ac unit u need to consider the refrigerant first as this will determine the pressure the pipes etc. will need to work with. U can select many different refrigerants but some work at a much higher pressure than others.
kneed more info a swamp cooler may be better for u is the humidity is below %50.
Good luck
