I'm so sick of this question. The forefather's did not found our religion on Christianity. Look it up. Try actually reading something other than your Bible.
As for "One nation under God" the terms "under God" were not added until the Cold War, when we were trying to distinguish ourselves from "the commies".
And the answer is no Gods. We live in a plurarlistic society not some freaking theocracy (at least not yet).

Actually, it's a common misconception that the word "God" when used in oaths, pledges, etc, means the Christian God.
In fact, the word God is simply a reference to your Deity (whoever he, she, or they might be).
The word God is not the name of the Christian God - that, actually, is Jehovah.
So, when you say the pledge - this is what it means -
I pledge allegiance to the flag and the United States of America (you are pledging loyalty to the country of the US, and respect to the flag that represents it)
And to the Republic for which it stands (and to the laws, people, and ideals of said country - ie - the constitution)
One nation, under God (we are all one, under whichever God we choose to serve, or not)
With liberty and justice for all (none of us are better or more deserving of rights than any other of us - we are all equal).
Some people don't say the pledge because their faith requires them to not pledge allegiance to anyone other than their God, and that's fine. Some don't say it because they don't believe in ANY God, and that's fine, too. But to agree with all the rest of it, and not have a problem with it, but to not say it because you believe it is an exclusively Christian God is to be misinformed, though you have that right, too.

Like it or not, the US was founded on Judeo-Christian values & attitudes, with "God" specifically mentioned or referred to numerous times in both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution as well as other documentation from that time period involving the early fathers. The majority of the social ills we are seeing today can (not coincidently) be traced directly to the same time as the removal of that God, the One True God, as a spiritual guidepost for the US government. If America will ever be great again we will have to return to our roots, not destroy them.

U.S. should pledge allegiance to Jehovah God, understood to be the Trinity - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, since we were founded as a Christian nation. Good question.

A Child’s First Image of God
Ephesians 5:1-2
A child’s first image of God is his earthly father. We Christians spend a lot of time discussing ways to protect or improve our witness. We need to live our faith in front of co-workers and friends, but in the privacy of our home, we also want our family to see Jesus in us. If we show forgiveness, patience, and acceptance, then our children will expect to find those traits in the Lord.
In a similar way, negative behaviors — for example, consistent harshness, busyness, or emotional neglect — also shape a child’s view of God. I remember a young man who came to me worried about his salvation. He had received Christ as his personal Savior but wasn’t convinced that he was truly forgiven. When I opened the Scriptures to share some assurances with him, he responded, “I believe them, but I’m just not sure God’s promises apply to me.” He seemed surprised when I then asked about his relationship with his father. During our conversation, it came out that his dad had often made promises he failed to keep. Now, years later, the son lacked certainty that God would keep His word.
Being a reflection of the heavenly Father requires no special skills; the only training guide we need is the Bible. By approaching fatherhood as an area of service and ministry, all men are able to be successful dads. As with any service rendered for God, the Holy Spirit offers fathers wisdom and guidance in the raising of children.
Be attentive to the words of the heavenly Father, and someday your children will rise up and call you blessed.

If I were a member of the VHP( An organisation of fanatiical Hindus) I would have promptly said that USA cannot do anything better than surrender to the pantheon of gods. But as a practising Hindu I can say that while such a step would have been welcome had it been the result of its own persuasion. Othewise Hinduism as such has no monololy of gods. The f Hindu polytheism is sometimes quite bewieldering to outsiders but for us all the nine billion names of god are the names of one god call him Vishnu or by any other name.In fact god as such has no attributes or shape. The various shapes and sizes he comes and is worshipped are his manifestations. We believe that there are various levels in our approach to god. According to the eminent Indian Phlosopher Shankara even an aboriginal indulging in human sacrifice is no less a devotee of god than a Yogi trying to reach Him only through meditaion. The aboriginal is not indulging in human sacrifice for self-indulgence but as a tribute to god. A cultured man could find fault with him for the cruelty but he would be ignoring the background of the matter Do you know an honoured Christian Father on a visit to india had declared that he found that the greatest Christian alive in the world was Mahatma Gandhi, though he prided himself as a devout Hindu and never even thought of conversion.
As regards atheists also we have no quarrel with them. As one of our professor used to say,'The shoulder of my god are quite wide. He can carry both the theists and atheists on them." We have never considered atheists as infidels who should be burned at the stakes like Bruno. In fact all Indian systems of phlosophy start with an attempt to meet the atheist arguments about non-existence of god and then only proceed propound their own theory. In fact some of these philossophical themselves are atheist like the Samkhya and the Vaisheshik. The sage Kanad who founded the Vaisheshik school was the first to develop the atomic theory. So convined was he about the primaordial character of atom that when on his death bed he was advised to surrender to god he folded his hands, saluted the atom thrice and left the world.
So adoption by America of Hindu gods or even their following Charwak, the atheist shool of Indian philosophy is one and the same .

No.
The US Constitution only prohibits Congress from establishing an official state religion.
Having diplomatic relations with the Vatican is in no way establishing an official American state religion.
We have diplomatic relations with China and Vietnam -- but that doesn't mean we are establishing, endorsing, or even approving of Communism.
//Edit//
Can you give references to that claim?

Personally I'm wtih Robin Williams on this one - "if we found out there was no God, what would we say? In Gates we trust? One nation under...Canada, above Mexico? Someone bless America? Pleeese?"
Works the same way over her in the UK though, doesn't it? "Someone save our ancient queen,
Long live our barmy queen,
Someone save the Queen...."
