Just bought a new Samsung LCD flat panel. Haven't upgraded to digital, hdtv cable yet. DVD's look great, but cable broadcast channels look very fuzzy. Do I have to upgrade to get rid of the fuzziness?

Ah, the curse of the big box retailer that just shows high def content. I suspect you already know the answer to this question. It is, of course, as others have already said, "Yes, Virginia, you need high def." Remember, just because you upgrade to a high def cable box does not make all channels high def. Only those select networks that have spent the money to go high def will deliver programming in high def. It will be like this for awhile. DVDs will look better, though, right away.

You must trade your box for a box with High Definition capabilities. Certain channels and shows are broadcasted in High Def. Withuth the high definiton box, you wont be able to view anything in high definition. Call your local cable provider for more details. A high def box costs aBOUT $10 MORE PER MONTH.

Unforunately, a high-definition TV will expose all the defects in the analog transmission. Try fiddling with the "sharpness" control on your TV to see if you can improve the analog picture. You'll have to find a compromise between sharpness and noise (graininess). Once you get your HD source hooked up, or when you watch DVDs, return the sharpness control to normal (near the low end of its range).

You have to be receiving an HD signal from your cable provider.
