First, you have been corrected about the word Christian above. Now to the word Catholic. First, Catholics were first called Roman Catholics by Protestants as an insult. Catholics did not invent the term, Protestants did.
Now to the term Catholic. Catholic appears in passing in the year 107 in a letter by Irenaeus, who was trained by both Peter and Paul. It is a Greek word that is the combination of two other words. It means "all embracing." It also means "according to the whole." Paul uses phrases basically meaning this in 1 Corinthians.
10 I urge you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree in what you say, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and in the same purpose.
11 For it has been reported to me about you, my brothers, by Chloe's people, that there are rivalries among you.
12 I mean that each of you is saying, "I belong to Paul," or "I belong to Apollos," or "I belong to Cephas," or "I belong to Christ."
13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?
14 I give thanks (to God) that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius,
15 so that no one can say you were baptized in my name.
16 (I baptized the household of Stephanas also; beyond that I do not know whether I baptized anyone else.)
17For Christ did not send me to baptize but to preach the gospel, and not with the wisdom of human eloquence, so that the cross of Christ might not be emptied of its meaning.
18 The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
19 For it is written: "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the learning of the learned I will set aside."
20 Where is the wise one? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made the wisdom of the world foolish?
21For since in the wisdom of God the world did not come to know God through wisdom, it was the will of God through the foolishness of the proclamation to save those who have faith.
22 For Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom,
23 but we proclaim Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles,
24 but to those who are called, Jews and Greeks alike, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.
25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.
26Consider your own calling, brothers. Not many of you were wise by human standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth.
27 Rather, God chose the foolish of the world to shame the wise, and God chose the weak of the world to shame the strong,
28 and God chose the lowly and despised of the world, those who count for nothing, to reduce to nothing those who are something,
29 so that no human being might boast before God.
30 It is due to him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God, as well as righteousness, sanctification, and redemption,
31 so that, as it is written, "Whoever boasts, should boast in the Lord."
The word Catholic means what Paul explicitly says in verse 10.
I urge you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree in what you say, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and in the same purpose.
Paul's words written for today might be some say I follow Luther, others Calvin, some Christ. To be Catholic is to reject all division and sin as from Satan. To be Protestant is to embrace division.
Which one do you think is more scriptural?

The word Christian has been in the Bible for quite some time.
In the Greek:
G5546
Christianos -- pronounced: khris-tee-an-os'
from 5547; a Christian, i.e. follower of Christ: KJV -- Christian.
See Greek No. 5547
It appears twice, once in Acts 26:28 , and again in 1 Peter 4:16.
On to the matter of Christ being God. Some would say that this was something imputed on Christianity at the Council of Nicea, that Constantine thought it a good idea so put it to use.
Whatever the theory, there would have to be some kind of source in order for an honest Christian to believe that Jesus is God and man at the same time.
Recent archaeological evidence was discovered:
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,174772,00.html
In that article, it tells the story of "two mosaics inside the church — one covered with fish, an ancient Christian symbol that predates the cross — tell the story of a Roman officer and a woman named Aketous who donated money to build the church in the memory "of the god, Jesus Christ." "
So it is not a new idea. There must have been some relationship to the idea that Jesus is God from even that period, to the present period, if not before even then.
But what do the Synoptic Gospels say? ( Since you seem to want only something Jesus might have said, and that it wasn't from John- a request I find highly suspect, for it would seem to be a restriction placed by someone who was doing everything in his/her power to convince his/her self that Jesus wasn't God! Why so much determination that you would omit a part that was included and widely accepted as scripture?)
Nonetheless, I will give an answer.
According to Matthew Jesus was born of a virgin, Mary who was to be wedded to Joseph. Matthew Chapter 1 King James Version verses 24 and 25 say:
Matthew 1:24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
In verse 25 it says that Joseph did not KNOW her (that's Biblical for not having had sex with her) UNTIL she had brought forth her firstborn son- Jesus.
That tells us that Jesus ws her firstborn son, and that her fiancee if you will, had not had sex with her. Until test tube babies, how possible was that to have a virgin that was pregnant? If you are like most people, that was pretty impossible.
The beginning of Matthew 2 shows that some were expectant of the birth of a Messiah. Herod knew of this and called together the chief priests to find out where his birth was to take place. They said Bethlehem.
Where did they get that? It was prophecy being fulfilled from Micah 5:1-2. So the stage is set beforehand as to the place of his birth. How many people do you know that were foretold as to where they would be born, and what they would be after they were born? I would expect that they answer would be none. And yet, this was the case. An anomally at the very least.
Twice in the early parts of Mark, Jesus has encounters with unclean spirits. Both those times he was told by the unclean spirits that he was different than anyone in a way that placed him as a son of God, and as God. He didn't want to hear it from them, and told them to be quiet. He had power to get them away when they both knew that he could destroy them.
Acts was most likely written by Luke for Paul, Romans was written by Paul, (or he dictated it to someone), and aren't you a Jew? Is that why your questions are framed this way? Because you think that Jesus wasn't preaching a new type of religion?
If Jesus taught nothing new then where would the problem be? Why crucify him at all if there was no reason to blame him for something? According to the Bible, Jesus had problems with the Talmud. He had problems with the Pharisees. Hence they moved to kill him.
The trouble with Jews that don't believe that Jesus was the Messiah is that you don't believe your own scriptures. And was it not the Pharisees that wrote the commentary on the scriptures to counter the teachings of Christians? Was it not the fact that God said that the Jews, as a people, would be made jealous?
Was it not the scriptures of the Jews that told of the Lamb of God, and that the Lamb of God could cover the sins of the people? And was it not foretold by the prophets that the Messiah would come, and do the things that Jesus did.
Tell me, if the Messiah were to come today and the Jewish people of Jerusalem cheered him, what house of friends would put him to death? And from where would he have wounds in his hands and in his feet? Not a stoning I would expect, but through the crucifixion by a Roman cross perhaps?
The very Pharisees that guide you with commentary are the ones who subjected my Lord to death, if he was the Messiah, is he not your Lord as well?
But what did Jesus say to make us think that he was God?
I have your answer:
He said all the things prophecied, and did all the things prophecied that he was supposed to do. They are in the scriptures. If you are a Jew, you aren't educated in this matter enough. If you are not, then you are a gentile that hasn't taken the time to find out what is said. You also probably immediately judge the scriptures according to what any non believer says.
You are cheating yourself and treating the things of God cheaply. If us Christians are so easily doubtable, then why not get your information on what the scripture says from Christians. Since you are so good at it, you should see their flaws immediately.
Here's one example of an online commentary that's free:

Luke 7:48 And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.
Who can forgive sins?

Well first of all what is the definition of Christian? A Christian is one who professes belief in Jesus as Christ or follows the religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus. So of course Jesus is not going to call himself or his followers Christians. His followers were simply called believers. Later on like in the book of Acts these believers are reffered to as Christians. Christianity are the Christian as a whole. And by the way Jesus is God.

If you really seek the Truth with all your heart, you will find it. BUT
if all you want is to justify your way of thinking, you will and THAT will be your reward. Can you imagine if every body is right and nobody is wrong, how would you Intelligently and logically and reasonably explain the the state of the world?
