Look at Mark 13, then focus on Mark 13:30.
Is there any good, NON-PRETERIST, explanation of this verse??

(just for fun, i'm gonna guess that "mistranslation" is a popular answer.)

Just so everyone knows.. the first line of Linda's post is Mark 13:30.

And flyersbiblepreacher's post IS the preterist view.

Ok, I'll spell it out...
How do you explain a verse that says straight out that the people Jesus is talking to will still be alive during his second coming? There is nothing to indicate that he's speaking about future times... he says THIS generation.

to Tina:
In all the verses you listed, there is absolutely nothing to indicate that Jesus was talking about a generation other than the one living at that time.

By reading what was written in the bible, the only thing that can logically be inferred is that Jesus was giving his followers, his CONTEMPORARY followers, signs that would happen before he came again... signs that they themselves were supposed to watch for.

This is a reference to the destruction of Jerusalem. It came during the lifetime of that generation of people.

Mark 13:19 For those days will be days of a tribulation such as has not occurred from the beginning of the creation which God created until that time, and will not occur again.

Mark 13:27 And then he will send forth the angels and will gather his chosen ones together from the four winds, from earth's extremity to heaven's extremity.

Mark 13:29 Likewise also you, when you see these things happening, know that he is near, at the doors.

Mark 13:30 Truly I say to you that THIS generation will by no means pass away until all these things happen.

Mark 13:31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. (2 Peter 3:11-13)

1)First the Great Tribulation happens.2) Then the rapture/changing of the church. (1 Corinthians 15:51)..(the gathering of the chosen ones) 3) then the generation that saw these 2 events will see; THIS generation; 3) Armageddon; (Heaven and Earth will pass away)

2Thessalonians 2:1-12 However, brother, respecting the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being *gathered together to him,* (Rapture/changing of church) we request of you not to be quickly shaken from your reason nor to be excited either through an inspired expression or through a verbal message or through a letter as though from us, to the effect that the day of YHWH(Armageddon) is here. Let no one seduce you in any manner, because it will not come unless the apostasy comes first and the man of lawlessness gets revealed.........8) Then, indeed, the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will do away with by the spirit of his mouth and bring to nothing by the manifestation of his presence. (The Great Tribulation, Matthew 24:30)

It's simple as the nose on your face . Watch and pray . When things that are written in the Bible start to happen all of a sudden , you will know that we are on the brink of the rapture of the Church . Read Matthew Chapter 24 too . Even in the Old Testament it has some more in the Book of Daniel Chapter 7 through 12 . God bless you and keep you . Read it all dude , it will enlighten you .

Amen, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place.

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

"But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
33
Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come.
34
It is like a man traveling abroad. He leaves home and places his servants in charge, each with his work, and orders the gatekeeper to be on the watch.
35
Watch, therefore; you do not know when the lord of the house is coming, whether in the evening, or at midnight, or at cockcrow, or in the morning.
36
May he not come suddenly and find you sleeping.
37
What I say to you, I say to all: 'Watch!'"
