Other than rates per person, what are good questions to ask when touring a reception hall? I have an appt tomorrow to look at one, and am trying to go to view another place, as well. Any suggestions?

I've got a DJ, and open bar is included in the menu price (Thank goodness!). Both places, I know of people who have had weddings there/I went to one, so I know the food is good!

some basic ones:

how big will the dance floor be?
where will the DJ be?
How late will we have the room?
how early can we come in to set up/drop off stuff?
Prices for open bar?
percentages for gratuities?

If you still need photo/DJ/Video people, ask them for names or "preferred vendors"

and the most important:
can we sample the food ahead of time and customize the menu?

Some high class places will even mass-produce family recipes!

Ask if tables and chair are provided or do you need to rent your own. If you want alcohol on the premises make sure it is allowed. Check the times you can get into the hall (you will need decorating time prior to your event) and then the time you have to have it cleaned up and out by. If you are going to have a DJ make sure there are outlets for his music stuff. Does it have a kitchen (if you are having it catered)? Can you decorate? (Believe it or not some places won't let you). What is the deposit? What is refundable if your event date would change? Those are a few that come to mind.
Good luck with your wedding!

Clean up, who does it and if there is a deposit, alot of times they will have someone there when you have your whatever your having, find out if they are going to have someone there and how far can the decorations go, like are they going to charge you $200 dollars for stapling ribbons from one corner to the other. Are there any appliances can they be used or do they work. Depends on your needs. Good luck.

ask if they have 'private' rooms in the back . . you know where all the good stuff goes on... kind'of like the champagne room in a strip club.
