Hey O-star,
It's a serious question and shows that you're a smart and introspective person.
I don't think that the death penalty should be reinstated in Britain or anywhere.
Gosh, I think that the death penalty is an immoral solution to crime.
Aside from the fact that there have been cases of innocent people who have been executed...
I am not moved by the arguments that you should exchange a life for a life.
Because I have a religious conviction that God has given each person life (even the most evil of people are here because God wanted them to exist) so we do not have the authority to extinguish that life. Not even for the crime of murder. Furthermore God, in his own time, will judge when it's time for a person to die. I don't want to presume to have the authority of God to take life when it wasn't me who created it.
As far as the argument re: financial costs...
The cost of incarcerating people for life is the cost of maintaining a civil society. If you are going to argue that people should be put to death because it's "cost efficient" then your stepping into even more shaky moral ground.

by the way...will u pleez pick this answer as best. U R sweet if u do. thin!~Q vry mch!

As harsh as it sounds, I think that if you do the crime, you pay the price... you take someone's life, same should be done to you. Heck, these people are going to sit in jail courteousy of our tax dollars!

My thoughts anyways...
