Ive been trying to uninstall norton from my computer. everytime i do it says that there is a missing file and it cannot complete.

I just checked my add/remove software and norton isn't there.

I just deleted the norton folder from my program files.

Norton is still on my start button.

Also, when I try 2 open norton it never does.

Norton is causing script to be blocked from my computer.

I Would Start By Deleting the Norton Registry Files Using Regedt32 <-- spelled just like that ... not off the top of my head do i know the registry folders Norton is in.... i did Try Searching for "Norton" in reg edit it didn't show any strings with that name ... this is my only answer i have for you .. I'm in the same boat as you. I Deleted Visual Studio's from my program files, and went to try to uninstall all the sql server and other programs that come with it .. windows will not let me delete them now, i been going thro my registry files for weeks now lookin for thier file ... i delete it restart windows and delete the program off my harddrive .. also anyone knows a easier way of going about doing it post it .... Also I can Not Boot in Safe Mode on my Computer also can not shutdown all the way or restart with out me havint to hit the power button .... so my answer is why i do wut i gotta do lol make sense ?

First, make sure that all icon listings are gone, i.e. from the menus, desktops, etc. Then go into file manager and delete all directories relating to Norton AND Symantec.

Now, the key part. You have to go into the windows registry and delete all instances of Norton's program.

Click 'Start', 'Run', then type "regedit" and hit enter to open the Registry Editor. Click to open HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software. Delete the "Symantec" subdirectory.

Now do the same with the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software section.

That should do it!

yea never delete the folder from prog files.
Re-install Norton and un-install it using congrol panes - add / remove programs.

Try deleting it with your computer in "safe mode".
