Definitely ask about offsetting the cost of your education so far (loan cancellations, etc.).
Anything is subject to change in the military. I'm about to deploy in either September or October. Yeah, they really don't know which one yet. Could be out for 6 months or 7. Again, no tellling.
Ask about officer programs, or at the very least entering as an E-3 because of your degree.
The Navy has an IT rating (job). Army has an MOS for it I'm sure, but I don't know what it is. Ask about that. Or cryptology. That's what I'm in, and it's a good field with quick advancement.

If you have a degree, you should be able to go in as an officer instead of an enlisted man. The thing you need to remember, whatever they promise you HAS to be in writing. They may try to get you to sign up under a program that allows you to go into a general type job and see what you would like to do and then choose your job, stay away from this program. Pay and benefits are all the same for everyone, you will get a base pay, a pay for housing, possibly a pay for food depending on where you are deployed, and sometimes there are other special pays for being away from family, being in a danger zone, etc. The medical/dental benefits cannot be beat. Good luck!

First, the navy invented the A** gap boss! But there are a few well ones too. The Military could be a first-class activity, however there may be plenty of monotonous crap to position up with too. Evil-mindedness is discouraged, Devious-mindedness is influenced! Strength and Stamina are pre-standards nonetheless, the navy nonetheless has but to determine methods to deliver each and every soldier a forklift, however they load you up like they did! The one commodity the Military demands is normal feel. Patriotism is first-class, however watching at a challenge and realizing while to mention "no" will hold your men alive. The trick is understanding methods to say "no". That takes international relations. Diplomacy is outlined as "the artwork of telling any person to visit hell in this type of approach that they appear ahead to the shuttle"!

If you have a degree why are you going to MEPS? Go in as an officer.

No matter what the army takes care of their soldiers and their families... they no longer live in times that... "if they wanted you to have a wife they would issue you one..."
Any thing that you are worried about ask them... like I said they will take care of you and your family.

Don't get that which seems too good to be true in writing. Get EVERYTHING in writing. If you want to go to a specific place, get it in writing. If you want to go to a specific basic training post, get it in writing. They can give you a lot more than they let on. I would suggest taking a lawyer with you. I'm not joking.
