I don't know about the fig tree, but I think He was demonstrating the power you can have just by having faith in God. Not that you would do those things but it would be possible for you to do with God's help.

The apostles healed people. The had faith and God granted them the ability to perform some miracles.

Jesus used many forms of expression in His teaching. This is figurative. I have seen "mountains" move. Not literal mountains *smile*...but my father, before he died at 91 years old, after an entire life rejecting Jesus....said yes to Jesus as his savior four days before he died. I had prayed for about ten years for his salvation. I didn't know how God was going to move that "mountain"... but I believed, somehow, I would see the salvation of my Dad.

Nothing is impossible for God. And to have faith, and see it fulfilled, that was the most wonderful thing that has ever happened in my entire life. I will treasure it forever.

yeah, i supose he was serious. he was saying when you believe you have the unlimited power of god behind you. But I think the thing is, knowing that you can kill a fig tree and not doing it. I think that was Jesus' thing.

Yes He was serious, no you can not move a mountain with your faith-He was saying that it does not take much faith to believe in God.

I actually believe he meant that. Jesus was referring to the power of faith, and what faith can do for us. If our faith in Christ can do those things, imagine other things it can do like healing, protection, and prosperity.
