My 12 year old son has shoulder length shaggy hair and other parents make rude comments about it. He gets good grades and stays out of trouble, so who's business is it but his? It's his head. What's the big deal?

No, not if it's washed and brushed. Long hair does not have to be scraggly and gross. As long as the boy is well groomed I think long hair is fine.

No not at all. I actually do the opposite I look at the parents letting there sons have some freedom. I would rather see a parent be strict on there kids about doing drugs and things of that nature then having long hair. I dont get what is long with having long hair its just a style.

It depends on how old the boy is... If he is young 3 -10 ...then yes because this is not his choice...if he is 12-17 as long as he does proper grooming then...it's his hair! Boys that are too young often get called girls when their hair is too long and they usually don't feel too good about that despite what the parents think.

Not at all. As long as good hygeine is there, so what?
Being there for your kids no matter what is the most important thing a parent can do. Allowing a child to decide some things for themselves as long as those things don't hurt anyone or are illegal, is a necessary thing in order for a child to learn life's lessons.

Nope. It isn't the parents' fault. And as long as the hair is clean it is okay with me. And who says only girls can have long hair? If boys like the look of long hair on them no one should judge.

Society is so cruel sometimes.

Actually, no. When my son was born we never cut his hair and by the time he was 5 it was almost to the bottom of his back.It was beautiful. I brokenheartedly cut it when he came home and asked me to because the kids in class were making fun of him.
My fourth son was almost 2 and his hair was starting to get long. I cut his off though when someone called him "Joe Dirt".
I like long hair, my husbands used to be long as well. I like my kids to have their own sense of self and if that's how they want it, it fine by me.

My little brother is 15 and has long hair. I think it's adorable on him. I don't think people should be so judgemental towards parents who allow their children to have a little personal freedom: as in choosing their own hairstyle or clothes. So keep letting him wear his hair the way he wants as long as its clean and you think it looks fine.

I'm a mom, and my son has long hair, why look down on me for that?..that's stupid.
If I didn't feed him, or clean him, or make sure that he is getting educated now, tome that would be a time to look at me and wonder...but for a hairstyle that will be in for maybe 5 to 6 years..uhuh--

no. but there is a difference between kids with long hair that looks good and long hair that just looks unkempt. as long as the hair isnt out of control or al over there face it should be fine.

NO not at all why should we??? dont listen to anybody like that especially that other person that answered yes because it is your son's head and no one should even care its not their son or their head so what does it matter its not bothering anyone!!! you should stand up for him and yourself to those people who look down on you and let them know its not bothering anyone
