If I was in a situation where my life was in danger, and I felt like I had to break God's law in order to survive, how would God view me if I broke His law to keep living? Is it ok to kill someone threatening the life of my children? What scriptures can you point me to?

God knows your heart, if you & your kids were being threatened, & I can see why you would do that! God loves you, no matter what. He won't hate you for breaking His laws. & He told us not to kill (check out the 6th commandment in Exodus 20:13; Deuteronomy 5:17) He doesn't like sin, but He still loves you. I heard a pastor once on TV & he was sayin that this guy had to lie to the KGB in order to save his family's life (the family was in hiding), & yeah, but the guy was sincerely sorry he did so & asked for forgiveness, so.... Check out John 14:15 & 21, Exodus 20:6. If you're feeling guilty about something, check out John 3:16, 1 John 1:9, Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, stuff like that. & PRAY, ALWAYS PRAY!! & smile, too. :) If you are right with God, when He comes He will take you to be with Him forever (1 Thessalonians 4:11-18). Ask Him for cleansing in your life.

It depends on what you are lead to do at the time. God will forgive you, do you know Christ as savior? I have been faced with this twice in my life and each time I did a different thing. When I was 21 and living alone a man with a knife stepped into my bathroom while I was in the shower (he had a big knife). I screamed he ran out of the room. I came out of the shower grabbed a pair of scissors and said "I will blow your head off if you don't leave" It was a lie, he left.
When told to have a medical abortion to save my life, I refused to kill my unborn child, it ended up being healthy twin boys. In both cases I did what I felt lead to do at the time and believed the choice was right. Many years later I still think God lead me both times.

I wouldn't do it, after all if you are the christian you sound like you would know-God has a plan...If it is meant to happen then so be it. If you could get the authorities involved let them that's what there there for...If you were to kill someone there is a big chance that you won't be going to the happy place. Why blow the chances of eternal happiness?and dont 4 get 4 every action there is a reaction.....well I hope this helped

If you open any of the books of the Torah or the Samuels, the Chronicles or the Kings, within 2 pages you'll probably find someone killing someone else in God's name, with God's permission, with God's blessing. God thrives on murder.

The better question is whether it is reasonable to use lethal force to protect your family when you reasonably expect someone to kill them. And the answer is, of course, Yes, in that situation, lethal force is reasonable. Why do you need God's permission to make sense?

I am a Theologian with Bible degrees and here is the Bibles answer, of which I'll also clearly explain. We read in Hebrews 9:27..."And as it is APPOINTED unto (all) men ONCE to die, but AFTER this the judgment: So (even) Christ was ONCE offered to bear the sins of many (mine and yours); and unto them (Believers) that look for Him shall He appear (VERY soon) the second time without sin unto Salvation (our deliverance)...Hebrews 9:27-28)." Now, from the basis of this word in the Bible, every person has an "appointed time" or moment when he or she will pass away. Now, lets suppose that you believed you were "breaking" one of God's law in order to "save" your own life. But this cannot be true. For "if" it was YOUR APPOINTED TIME to die, there is NOTHING that you can DO to "prevent" God from taking your life. Your life, regardless of how the circumstances appear, is always in the Hand of God and there is NOTHING you can do to prolong your life if it IS "your time". Even those who commit "suicide" think that they are cheating or beating God and His "plan" (predistination) for that person's life...NO!...his or her "suicide" WAS their "appointed time" even though they think it's not. Moreover, NOWHERE in the Bible is it taught that suicide is "sin" or a sin that cannot be forgiven. Samson, for example, was a mighty man of God; but was captured by the Philistines and they "put out his eyes". They made a public example of him and "chained" Samson to the two main pillars that held up the Philistine temple...where more than 10,000 Philistines were gathered together. Samson, in his very last act in life, prayed to God to give him strength, and Samson pulled down the pillars and killed the 10,000 Philistines. But this is the point: In doing this, Samson "committed suicide", and he is praised as being one of God's greatest "deliverers" of the Children of Israel. Suicide, was Samson's "appointed time".

The fact you need to ask implies to me that you already know the answer, but want a different one. Is it ever 'okay' to kill another? Ever? What do you think? Is there a clause, or sub-paragraph, in the Ten Commandments (#5) under the "Thou shall not kill," which would give you an 'out'? I think not. If you believe in and follow these commandments, then you know the answer is no...

If someone is threatening the life of your children you should report it to the police or the proper authorities. If there is no one around and you are threatened, you arent breaking the laws of God, if you try to defend yourself or your children, as long as you didnt provoke it.

Read Romans chapter 3:19-31.

Paul reveals to us that the law was written (thou shalt not kill) in order for us to realize what God considers sin to be. But. That has nothing to do with our relationship with God now.

"...righteousness from God, apart from the law, has been made known....This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe....God presented Him as a sacrifice of atonement through faith in His blood."

The law is beautiful and wonderful for showing us how to live a happy life, but life is too complicated for humans to be able to follow it. God knew that when He wrote it. It was just His way of letting us know what it would take to be perfect.

If you know you had to do what you were thinking of doing to preserve your life or your family's lives, you were right square in God's will by being the provider and protector of your family.

Realistically, why would you want to keep living if you are so sure that you would go to heaven? Why not run into burning buildings to rescue babies every chance you get? Do you not want to be with God?

you might want to know, that the ten commandments weren't quite as specific as they appear in the bible. the thou shalt not kill stated which people you weren't allowed to kill, which basically meant you couldn't kill your family, friends, or neighbors unless they were trying to kill you. People have removed lots of stuff from the bible over the years, since it didn't agree with their personal beliefs.
