Be VERY wary of people saying they are selling these!!!!!!!
GSD are prone to pituatary dwarfism. I have seen SEVERAL of these dwarf come through the shelter in the last few years!!!! They were sold as mini-shepards. They are a genetic nightmare and have many health issues. They do not live a normal life span.
GSD are a certain size. There is something wrong with a specimin that is mini!! Don't fall for it!!!

I've looked extensively for miniature German Shepherds, because I love the breed, but their only drawback is their size.
Unfortunately, there is no such thing as a mini German Shepherd. Any mini German Shepherds that you find will be very poor specimens, and most likely bred with a smaller breed, so they won't even be purebreds!
Your best bet is to try to find a smaller than average German Shepherd. If you look hard enough you can find Shepherd mixes or even purebreds that are only 40-50 pounds. You also might consider the Shetland Sheepdog or the Welsh Corgi instead. These dogs are bred to be only 20-30 pounds (or even less) and are still members of the Herding Dog category, so they are sturdy, working dogs.

When I was younger we had what was known as a miniature German Shepard. The father and mother were miniature also. This was back in the 60's and I didn't know how hard they were to find until I started to look for one years ago. My dad passed at an early age so I never found out where he got her. When my dad did breed her it was with another Shepard from there group or another German Shepard. We kept a puppy from the original litter but he passed away right after my dad we said it was from a broken heart. The last time I saw one was mine and that was in 1982.
