ENZYME cleaner. If you use another cleaner, the animals can still smell it even if you cannot. You cannot use it with anything else - so blot up the urine and put then enzyme cleaner on...it will actually break down the proteins. If there are any stains after the enzyme cleaner has had a day or so to work, then maybe go for the steam cleaner...remember - the enzyme cleaner has live microbes - any other cleaners used before or after will kill them.

You can use a black light to find any missed urine spots. Good luck!

You need a steam cleaner, and a shampoo formulated for removing pet odors. If they have this at your hardware store, great! Either rent or buy it (if you buy it and clean all your carpets, it's good for you and your pets!).

Even if you get a steam cleaner + pet-specific shampoo, you may still have odors. Get a black light and shine it everywhere to find out where the remaining urine is and then clean it according to the instructions on a bottle of enzymatic cleaner. I highly recommend PetZyme from PetSmart; I have a cat who used to pee on the floor daily and this cleaned up all the smells.

Good luck.

There is a product that I bought from Sav-On drugstore that worked magic and it was $6. Spray it on and walk away. It comes in a large white bottle with purple writing. I'm at work so I don't know the name.

The carpet cleaners do not work.
The mail order stuff works as well as the stuff above.

The absolute best thing that I Have evern found to clean my carpets is to pretreat with Shout then and then get a machine and instead of using the machine's cleaner - use liquid Tide w/bleach! It works wonders! Good luck!

You'll need a product specifically made for removing that type of stain. I recommend Nature's Miracle brand. You can get it at any pet store. Other cleansers may remove the stain, but leave the odor, but this one is great, you can even use it in the washing machine.

You need to use something like Nature's Miracle or Urine Gone. They have enzymes that completely remove the remnants of the stain.
