Yes they should, because they are also God's children and they are just as capable of learning and teaching as men are. Blessed be.

Good question.

Jesus treated women with a respect and equality that was unheard-of in His earthly time and place.

Yet, He didn't choose any for a sacramental ministry -- even though He easily could have.

For this type of ministry, He chose only men.

For this reason, the Church has no authority granted to it by the Holy Spirit to ordain women.

Remember, too, that women fill a great many important roles in the Church.

The Church runs a lot of schools, hospitals, outreach centers, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, crisis-pregnancy centers, chancery offices, and a whole bunch of other facilities.

Many of these facilities are headed up by women.

Women are also, in many cases and in ways that many men are not, heavily involved in Catholic parish life. Without these women -- the "church ladies" as they're often called -- many parishes would be poorly run, if run at all.

So, don't assume that women don't play important roles in the Catholic Church simply because the priesthood is all-male. Nothing could be further from the truth.

This is a sticky conversation and could land me into a lot of trouble. No matter how I choose to answer this question I may be labeled as judge mental.

Personally, I believe that women should not be allowed to take on priesthood, or be a pastor or reverend. This comment may land me with a lot of back lash, but that is my personal opinion. Despite popular belief, all of men's jobs should not be taken by women and this is one of them. In Bible times, the women were to stay in the background of Bible teaching. Although many people don't agree with their ways, there was a reason for it. No one knows all the answers when it comes to the in's and out's of religion and religious teachings. But I tend to lean towards how things were done years ago.

What about you? Do you believe that women should be allowed to be a priest? Why or why not?

Sure, why not? Women in general tend to be more intuitive and tapped-in to feelings of others. I would think those would be good qualities to have in a priest.

You will probably get lots of answers that say "no, because the bible says so." I wish such people could use their own logic and reasoning as well as being bible "experts." Then the discussions wouldn't be so one-sided.

p.s. I also think that priests of all denominations should be allowed to marry. Thus they would not have to remain celibate (unmarried) nor chaste (unsexual).

I'll assume that we are talking about Christianity here; so, no

While women could publicly pray and prophesy in church (1 Cor. 11:1–16), they could not teach or have authority over a man (1 Tim. 2:11–14), since these were two essential functions of the clergy. Nor could women publicly question or challenge the teaching of the clergy (1 Cor. 14:34–38).

Even Catholics accept that in some sense, all Christians are priests (the "royal priesthood" St. Peter's first letter refers to.) The sacramental priesthood is a male priesthood, but the common priesthood of the faithful is a responsibility and vocation of all believers.

No, if Christ had wanted female priests then he would have chosen one among his disciples. I would not attend a Mass celebrated by a female priest nor would I confess to a female priest. Not our place, not our role.

This is a very good question - it is answer here:

OPINIONS will get you in trouble - have any of you even read the Bible - God punishes those who do not do His will - one of the reasons for the Old Testament is to show us - GOD does not put up with any excuses - read your Bible - It talks about worship and how it is supposed to be handled - I also have it documented on my site - but people's opinions are not necessarily those of God.

Doesn't matter to me.

My priest, according to the Bible, is Jesus.

Anyone else is just play-acting anyway!

I think this is not for mankind to decide. Priests should be called of God, not man.
