A prophecy is then not really a prophecy but a postdictive (not predictive) statement that can be used to pin to some apparently related event and say "Ha, prophecy has been fulfilled because so and so has happened." No event have ever been prophesied with 100% complete accuracy. It is always done in a vague generalized way that can mean anything to anybody.

That's why you can't believe them. If you want to prophesy, give specifics, or stop collecting money from your followers.

I could not agree moreso. Very well worded I might add...

Only one prophency has been fulfilled 100% - the coming of the Messiah. However, if we carefully read the Bible, we can see that the reason this prophency came 100% true is because Jesus modeled his entire life right out of the OT, and made certain that he fulfilled every single prophency so that he would be named the Messiah! He stops outside Jerusalem and sends one of his followers into the city to get a donkey - why? Because the OT said that the Messiah would ride into Jerusalem on a donkey - thats why!
Of course, Christians dont pay any attention to that part of the story.....

I would suggest, assuming you can read, to read the book of Daniel, then the book of Isaiah in the Old Testament.

you can tell a true prophet from a false prophet. If it comes to pass, he is a true prophet, if not then a false prophet.
