since than I haven't been able to get yahoo messenger working properly ...I reinstalled a new version and tried older ones too, still Im having the same problem.None of the sent or received messeges are showing up in the mess window.I think it's maybe being blocked, but Im not sure I even did a system restore still no luck...Please Help!

add yahoo to your firewall exemption list. (control panel, firewall, exemptions)

Maybe the software you are using is effecting by covering or using it as an alternative. Maybe you need to go to Yahoo! Messenger help to figure out what is the problem.

Sp2 has windows firewall on by default. If and only if you have another firewall then disable the Windows buily in firewall

Check if using IE, that its activex is not disabled.
