If you are unsure, get a laptop. Once you get out of school and go to college or start working, the laptop won't get lonely, and landlords won't mind you having it. The laptop won't need to be fed 2-3 times and given 4+ potty trips outside and a long walk or two every day (even if your friends have planned a fabulous day trip out to some fun location or a party all evening). The laptop won't need expensive food, vet care, and medication that can be hundreds or thousands of dollars a year. I wouldn't get a dog if not in a stable living situation with a plan for how the dog would be cared for and paid for for the next 10-15 years (unless you concede that it will actually be your mom's dog). If your mom will agree to take ultimate responsibility for the dog (not primary responsibility--this is part of your bonding with the dog), then I would go for the laptop.

Dogs last longer. How about a compromise: get a lap dog.
Seriously, dogs are a huge, time consuming responsibility. In the long run, they are more expensive than a lap op because you must get them all the shots they need, from puppy hood and through the rest of their life. Then there's food, exercising, and grooming, nail clipping, etc., etc. That all takes money and time.
On the other hand, a laptop will be useful, and it sounds as if having your own will cut down on arguments with your sister and mother--and that is worth a lot!

If you are questioning this, get the laptop. You are obviously not sure of taking on the responsibility of a dog, so just get the computer. A dog is a serious job that cannot be ignored.

A dog. It has been proven that a pet is better for you in the long run than almost anything else.
A laptop will only be good for about 3-5 years before it is outdated. A dog never gets outdated or needs a upgrade.

You should get a dog. It can love you and you can pet and hug it when your sad. (can't do that with a laptop) I also want both and I would soooooo choose a dog. I don't mind waiting. Trust me choose a dog.

well think of it this way:
they both slow down after a few years of having them
they both crash when hit by lightning
they both fill your head with useless nonsence
dog:
soft and warm to sleep with
makes you happy when your sad
helps you exercise
laptop:
they'l have an upgrade 6 months after u buy the newest one
definitly the dog!!

Definitely the dog. He'll be a companion and you'll learn from him-many good experiences. A live creature over a computer any day.
