Adam is a description as well as a name.
There is no scriptural evidence for whose choice it was
ADAM (Heb. adham, Gr. Adam, of the ground or taken out of the red earth). In Hebrew this is both a personal name (Gen 2:20; 3:17, 21; 4:25; 5:2-3; 1 Chron 1:1) and a general noun ("mankind," over 500 times in the OT). As the first and representative man, Adam was made in God's image, provided with a garden and a wife, and given work to do (Gen 1-2).
