I must be the odd ball here, but our kids usually start around 4. I have had too many problems with it ending up all over the toilet, walls, doors, pants, etc. When there is a mess it isn't something that you can do much about other than saying no and cleaning it up. It is SOOOoo not worth the mess to me, so we have ours wait until they are starting preK. Usually they are able to handle it by then and do an okay job. After all, it is rarely more than 2 times a day and still a lot easier than diapers. (or completely cleaning the bathroom and giving bath unexpectedly)

well i think that you should teach your child as soon as they have fully mastered going to the potty. I know that i started potty training my 2 sons at the age of 2 and by 3 they were already cleaning themselves by themselves. I would go and check to make sure that they did a good job, but other than that everything was okay.

They need to learn to wipe as soon as they are old enough to learn to potty train or as soon as they start potty training. My daughter is 3 and she has been wiping herself since she was 2 when she learned to go to the bathroom. We bought her those wet wipe things that you can flush for children so that way she gets herself clean after going to the bathroom.

If you mean just an accident in potty- training- never. I think that would be mean. If you mean if they are already potty-trained and need to be wiped, I'd say around 4 1/2 when their little arms can reach. Teach them well how to wipe themself.

The day you teach them to use the toliet (potty training). Unless you want to clean out the skidmarks out of there underware and what ever else that might be left in them by them.

My daughter started trying to at age 3, my son too. I buy the kandoo wipes for them. They seem to do a good job but you should still supervise.

When your child can go on the potty by his/herself, that is when you start teaching them.
