My male cat has been neutered for almost 2 years. After neutering the spraying stopped and since then his bathroom behavior has been great. There is a small female cat that comes around our apt. lately, and I think she's old enough to be in heat. We pet this cat, my 2 yr. old girl loves her. My male cat has started pooping in front of our front door, three times now. Why would he change his bathroom habits so dramatically? Could it be he still has some hormones making him want the female cat that's in heat? Could it be a blatter or urinary tract infection? Or behavioral problems? The reason I don't think it's behavioral problems is we recently had to take in a family member's dalmation and he didn't act out then....why now? PLEASE HELP!!

We neutered him because he pissed on everything we owned. Male cats spray. And, we've done the cleaning the litterbox thing. Didn't help? We scoop everytime he uses it???

He has been neutered for over 2 years now.
Maybe he is jealous of this new girl kitty???
I think a trip to the vet should be the best thing to do???

The only solution I know to work is to spread human hair on the ground where the cats are spraying. Since you'll need quite a bit, visit a hair salon and ask them if you can fill up a bag with the stuff they sweep up off the floor. I'm not sure exactly why cats avoid the area where you spread the hair, but this was the only solution that worked when my friend had the same problem in a sandy flower bed under his window. It's also possible that the neighborhood cats only see your female cat through the window. Cats & dogs will spray to mark their territory (it's a male competition thing), so they may not be trying to attract your femaile when they do this. Try closing the curtain where your cat likes to hang out, or somehow keep her away from the window.

Cats do not use poop to mark their territory. That's what they use pee for. Poop is merely a gift with purchase kind of thing to a cat. They do not care about their poop. Some cats are really obsessive about covering theirs up (which dates back to that whole predators finding the den by scent thing, which really does not apply here, I promise.) But those are the really super clean cats, and that doesn't sound like what we're dealing with here, no offense. My mom's cat started doing the exact same thing. It turned out, he was too fat to manuever underneath the litter box cover. Then, she gets him a big giant litter box, and now he just doesn't want to. So she takes the lid off the litter box and SURPRISE, he doesn't do it anymore. Peeing in a covered litter box is easy for a cat, but pooping in it is much more difficult to maneuver. And if kitty isn't feeling it, then they will poop where they know you will see it. So that they know you know they don't like their litter box! Make sense? In your house it happened to be the front door.
If it was a bladder infection, kitty would be running a fever and he would be back to spraying, not pooping. Good luck!

Keep his litter box clean. Did you movie it recently?
You could try moving the litter box near the door for a while, then move it back. After you move it back, put him in the litter so he knows about it. Covered litterboxes might also help, they are shy about it, maybe cause it smells so bad.

My cat did this because he was jealous. maybe play with it more and give it more attention. if that dosent work try changing the kind of kitty litter. go with something more expensive. something that smells good when they use the kitty box like fresh step or something like that. I changed the cat litter for mine and it worked good. good luck!

My cat still does this and we tried everything. We are probably going to have him put down because he won't stop. After ceaning up poop twice a day for a year, enough is enough. I hope your cat can still be fixed.

Try cleaning his litter box more frequently. A similar thing happened to my cat, and he refused to do his buisness in a soiled litter box. I tried cleaning it more frequently, and it worked!

Look for worms
Yes they can still 'want' females.
Maybe jealousy from your child -- she should only be touching 'me'.
