The interesting part of every debate like this on the Y!A forum is that statement. Christians, you have no proof that God exists. Atheists, you don’t either. That’s why faith is necessary. Even more interesting is the predictable response that you don’t have faith. And yet I propose that you do have faith in something that is not quantifiable – your own reason. You have ideas & theories but no proof. So that just tells me that you have as much proof for your belief (or lack of) as I do. But I believe in time-tested literature. You believe in your own intellect, susceptible to your own ego and denial processes. It's a stalemate, but who is being fooled more?
Aside regarding the existence of literature - why is it that aprox. 7 copies of Alexander the Great’s documentation exists, and less than a dozen copies of Augustus Caesar’s writings are verified & no one questions that - but billions of copies of the Bible exist and it’s not treated with the same empirical awe as AtG or Caesar’s work?
I have seen the evidence of God for myself. It is not a quantifiable proof - it must be experienced first-hand. However, I know that this method doesn't fit with the preferred atheistic method of interested observer. But it doesn't mean it's wrong - just that those unwilling to experience it are unable to.
Here’s logic that can be understood without directly experiencing it. You tell Christians to grow up. But let’s look at quality of life. Unlike the dysfunctional or non-functional mental patients atheists often compare Christians to, the majority of Christians are fully functional, productive members of society. Additionally, most Christians I know are pretty happy. Most atheists I know are not. And neither side has proof of being right. When I was an atheist (aged 17-34) I thought that we as humans had the capacity to be gods. That we were the champions of our own cause and that intellect and reason would provide the answers the world needed. But they didn't even wok in my own life.
The view that all people will eventually work together in a cooperative effort toward understanding is a Pollyannaish view that doesn't take human nature into account. The childish view that I am right because I say I am right works against both sides.
Somewhere in each is the kernel of truth for those willing to work for it and find it. And in the end knowing the truth will set you free. Until then whoever seeks the truth without finding real answers that are applicable to life is simply biding time on planet earth, bound & enslaved by each one's personal view of himself. What a tragedy.

Why are you sooo angry ?? Let and let live, please. If you don't want to believe in anything but yourself that's your prorrogative. All children are the same you know? Have the same friends, live in the same city and shop in the same stores where Santas may be sitting. Children have fantasies, regardless. There're some that were raised believing in nothing but what's in front of their noses or only on what they can touch, however they believe in love, hate, atheism, palm reading, cards reading, etc. So why believing in a spirit be so far fetch for you to believe that exists?
Just by looking around and seeing everything from your fingernails growing to gravity, there's no doubt of an intelligent design in all this. A perfect design only made possible by a perfect beign, and obviously is not you,and stop being so angry.

It has been scientifically proven that Jesus walked the earth, and it has been proven that he ascended into heaven. Again it has been proven by scientists and scholars. Even if (and it's a BIG if) there is no God, at least I know that in case ther is, i will go to heaven, and I am happy with that. Can you say the same? Lets say there is no God, and no Heaven or hell, then what, you and I end up in the Same place. But say for arguments sake that there is a God, and a Heaven. I know that I will be there, and you cant say the same. That seems like a pretty sticky situation to be in. I wouldn't want to have to face those odds.

I feel bad for you Yoda.....are you proclaiming to be some kind of a Jedi or something.????
Read the bible and then you will understand. I am so sick of "you people" ranting and raving " about the fact that there is no God. We have planted the seed for you for thousands of years.
I think that you are curious that is why you keep asking the dame questions. If you want to stay miserable in your own life because you CHOOSE to live without God then that is your Choice. Do not get mad at Christians, for all this has been predicted in the bible...we Will be persecuted, in Jesus name. We are all prepared, and ready for people like you condemning what we believe. You ask when will we grow up, look at your self and the statements you make.....How mature.... Give me a break!!!!! If you dint believe then I feel bad for you, and I will continue to pray. No-one is perfect, that is why Jesus Died on the cross. He gave us life. Leave us alone and stop asking dumb questions that make no since......GROW UP

Intellectual growth requires curiosity and a willingness to explore new ideas.
Since some of these people are only prepared to explore ideas in a 2000 year old book, and wouldn't read a book on biology or cosmology if someone rewrote it in the style of Dr Seuss and gave it to them as a present... it's a lost cause.
I take comfort in the thought that their children or grandchildren will look back at them with embarassment.

What does God call it? Preach love too you? Lets see what God says, to do with you.
You have unbeliever's. Chaff, Scoffers.
An Atheist is a scoffer. The WORD of God, clearly tells you the filhty rags they are, and to stay away from them, and avoid them. We are NOT to plant seeds. God knows it is useless and that is why he tells us, "You stand firm against them" ( Jer.17:8 14:1 Iah 44:4) You disassociate them completely. Any Believer that does not abide in God's own Word, does not know God, according too God Himself. Atheists are "chaff" A simile of the wretchedness of the wicked. Chaff is carried away by the lightest wind, and it's removal brings about cleansing by extracting what is utterly useless. (Ruth 1:22). They will NOT stand in the judgment. They will NOT be able to withstand God's wrath when He judges.( Paslams 76:7 Exra 9:15). This is not my opinion, this is God's very own Words, in the Bible. You know, the BIble? The same Bible atheist scholars quote. There is a reason God, said this. Psalms.1.1-3 Jer. 17:8 14:1 12. 1-2 18:9-10 Prov1.10-19 (vs 5) scoffers:(atheists) those who ridicule God and definatley reject His Law. Prov 1.:22 Ruth 1:22 Jer 18:7 (pull down-destroy) 1:10 (evil-calamity) 18:11
Pslams 1:
godly wisdom here, declare the final outcome of the two "ways". The paths of "sinners" (unbelievers) and the "way of the righteous. he speaks progressively of assoociation with the ungodly and participation in they're ungodly ways.
God said it. End of Story. Jesus Himself said "Let the dead bury they're dead".
Use all the Internet and Dictionaries they want to and call themselves anything they wish. God "defined" what they are by His own words.
They can hang a dog tag* around they're neck in the pits if hell itself and separate each other by name categorically.
God's Word said it. By God's definition. There is NO opinion.
Hate? Where do you get hate? If God's TRUTH is hate too you, then, so be it. You and God, can and will discuss the means of your sciptural interpretation, consisting with a man-made defacto on a motion of plea bargin I guess. I dunno.

A warning.
Some day (no one knows the day or the hour) Jesus is going to return for his people. And when he does we are going to just disappear and go to heaven. When more then half the world disappears and leaves behind everything earthbound then please find a bible and read revelations so you will know what happens next. If after Jesus' coming you are still alive then do not hold on to your pride but help others to find faith.
To watch for:
The world going to 3 languages and three forms of money. World Peace for seven years, a world dictator (aka the anti-Christ). There's more but you will have to read revelations. It will happen. I hope you change your opinion and accept Jesus Christ as your personal savior, I will pray that I see you in Heaven.

"The fact is, there is NO god."
That's interesting. First of all, I seriously doubt that you're much acquainted with the literature. There's a link below to a text which engages every major atheist position from a non-fundamentalist perspective (the author got himself kicked off the faculty of a Catholic university). I challenge you to read it, if you're so scientific and open-minded towards the evidence. Or you could just be a lazy, closed-minded sh*t who couldn't read a sophomore philosophy text if his life depended on it.
Second of all, what are the data on which you base your assertion of this "fact"? I'd love to see them. And if you could define "God" as well that would be helpful; it would be too bad if we were talking at cross purposes because your conceptual apparatus was as pathetically juvenile as I suspect it is.

"The fact is, there is NO god". Really? How do you know this as a fact? Are you omniscient, that is, know all knowledge there is to know from the creation to now, both material and spiritual? Are you omnipresent, that is, able to be in all places at the same time? How do you know if you are in one corner of the universe, that God isn't in another? So, unless you are both omniscient and omnipresent, you cannot honestly state, there is no God. You may say you don't believe there is a God, but to state this as a fact is disingenuous.
