They have things called entrenching tools, they're small shovels, they can use them to dig holes in the ground, for say pooping, or even to bury left over food. Or, they just drop the pants and go, I've learned over ten years that my husband has no problem with going to the bathroom anywhere. When ya gotta go, ya gotta go.

Please don't quote me on this one, but any battles now, the troops go out for a day or so and come back to a base that has some sort of bathroom. My husband went to Bosnia ten years ago, and they went out and did their mission and came back that night or next day.

Depends on the situation.

In most cases -- not in immediate combat -- a soldier will dig a slit trench with his/her entrenching tool in a secluded area near his area and do his/her business there, covering it as necessary for sanitation.

In a bivouac area or some other more static location, they'll dig latrines.

When bullets are flying, I don't think too many soldiers really worry about voiding themselves. If it happens, it's probably in their pants, as someone else said.

Lol, well in the heat of battle you either forget about it or you crap in your pants. lol. Its the truth. More often than not when we fought, we would rotate with another team and we would pull back and conduct our business.

Oh and dont forget! Soldiers eat MREs and those things will clog ya up for days!

I think a lot are scared shi.less so they end up delaying their poop. On a more practical note, when I was in the army we were taught to dig a hole and cover it up when done. Make sense?

Adrenalin supresses the need to go. In some special forces outfits where they have to live within hostile territory they will crap in plastic sealable freezer bags and carry it with them so as to leave no trace, smell or disturbance.

Something about the stress of getting shot at.

If they haven't messed their pants, the chances are their hole is so puckered up tight that nothing is going to pass anyways.

Pucker factor is Max!

They carry little portable poo pots with them. When they're not using them they fold up into pocket size pouches.

In their pants, or if not that, where ever they can take their pants down.. Many just pee their pants instead of taking a chance on getting shot by moving.
