Going to Kern River in CA, how do you spot where to throw your fishing line? How do you spot where they would be?

In plunge pools, this where the water comes over rocks, and there is a lot of oxygen.

In the deeper pools where the water is cold...

In front of large rocks as well as behind...

that are 3 good spots to start.

Also trout are very smart and have good eye sight. If they see you, they may not bite. Where dark clothes so you blend in to the surroundings. Approach the spots you want to fish from down stream.

They love to hide down stream of big rocks in the middle of the river or anywhere the current isn't as strong. They like to stay downstream of big rocks, because they break up the current, which means they don't have to swim as hard and can wait for food to pass by.

Well it really matters what kind of trout it is, but mostly they tend to stay in deeper water. Im not sure if they do in California, but in Canada, they stay in deeper waters (If you love fishing you should come up to Canada, best fishing in the world)

Look for white water. Preferrably behind a rock.

deep pools, undercut banks with overhanging brush, and any calm water behind rocks, logs, etc.
