LOL??? How stupid does that sound? I understand LMAO to shorten "laughing my a** off" but LOL and HAH are the same length, and HAH is the real deal! Also goes for hee hee, ho ho, heh heh, even har-dee-har-har! No?

Well, I don't agree. HAH doesn't mean laughing to all people. And "hah hah" isn't short enough. It's all about keeping it short while understanding the meaning. LOL. Short and sweet.

LOL is something that has just become ingrained in our IM language. Take your hands and actually type out hah hah hah on your keyboard. Do it one handed. Feel the strain in your hand? Now type out LOL with one hand or even lol. See how much easier that is? I personally save hah hah, or rather ha ha ha for REALLY funny situations, and lol for "oh thats cute." If I want to use rolling on the Floor laughing (ROTFL) then I usually pull up the Yahoo emoticon for it. plus, lol has started to seep its way into our vocal vocabulary. I know that I have personally used lol with one of my friends, so we just think of that as our way of laughing through IM.

Because LOL can be typed with one finger of one hand moving quickly on the keyboard or phone pad. Haha requires two hands to type and, to make matters worse, the a requires work by the weakest finger of the hand. LOL can be typed much more quickly therefore than haha.

cuz people seem to use it even when theyre just smiling n not even loughin, let alone loughin out loud
i actually have a friend who says LOL when shes talkin to people face to face instead of actually loughin :)

Hah hah seems more derogatory, while LOL is casual. Some people tend to use "heh", "hehe", or "heehee".
