Quite tasty, but very expensive.

I think so....I had ice cream there for the first time yesterday - I had cheesecake ice cream with black cherries mixed in. It was pretty tasty, but I couldn't taste the "cheesecake" flavoring after the first few bites. And Gilly's right about the mix ins - mine were barely mixed in.

The one thing I don't like about Cold Stone is that there are way too many huge people going there and bringing their kids there and teaching them how to eat horribly just like them. Their smallest size of reg. ice cream has over 300 calories without any mix ins....not really the best treat for kids unless you only go like once a month or so. They do have a kids size but I don't see many people purchasing that for their children.

Needless to say I don't frequent the establishment.

I kind of agree with the Starbucks analogy.
I think Thomas Sweet, Dickey's, and Max's are actually better. These are all in DC (Thomas Sweet and Max's are in Georgetown, Dickey's is downtown)
There is also Lazy Susan in Arlington.
But if you are out at the mall and want some ice cream Cold Stone can be good.

Cold Stone is to ice cream what Starbucks is to coffee. In my opinion both are horribly overpriced and mediocre in quality. In my local area there are many places I would go for ice cream before Cold Stone.

That being said, it's worth a trip for the experience. Just don't go with high expectations. . .

Yum! It has a really neat texture, like something in between hard and soft ice cream. They also have a great amount of variety and unusual choices. The only drawback is that they are a little more pricey than other ice cream places.

Over-rated, over priced, and the workers beg for tips. Better ice cream at Rite Aid. Or Dairy Queen. Or Baskin Robbins.

No hype, no long lines and you should tip for good service. How hard is it to dish out ice cream?

Is this the icecream parlor your talking about? If so, yes it is pretty good. It reminds me of a Marble Slab.

They are not my favorite. It depends on who you have "making" your ice cream. I've gotten some real idiots before who hardly put anything in it, and barely mix it around, so it's nothing more than ice cream with some crap thrown on top.

most people like it, but I'm not a big fan. You should go at least once for the exprience.
