No, it certainly does not. Infact, it probably means you are much more ethical a person than any one who is religious (a few exceptions do exist).

What makes you a good person is what you DO, not what you BELIEVE in!!!! And, by the way, we all posess both good and bad qualities. Just treat others like you would like to be treated and try to make the world a better place while you are here! Kinda sounds like you have been a vicitm of typical christian brainwashing. I mean....think about it....what you are suggesting in that if a person doesn't believe that there is an all-knowing, all powerful man that sits on a throne in the sky may make someone a bad person?????? Doesn't that sound just the least bit ridulous to you?

No and yes.
You are a good person when you have precise citeria to tell you what is good and you decide to stick to them. If you know exactly what is good, and you decide to do the reverse, then it is bad.
Nobody can tell any other men that they are good or bad; only you yourself know you are good or bad (and perhaps you may say you don't know, because you get confused with the unclear criteria set by your society.)
Real religious people believe that God (through His Messengers) has set clear criteria for them about what is good and what is bad. If the believer sincerely observes the divine teachings, that is really good for him; but if he only bears the name of religion and has no intention to love and to worship God, that would be the worst thing for him, because he is cheating the world and cheating himself.
People who bear the names of religions or bearing the names of any ideologies are no different with people being labelled this and that by the society. The value of each man is decided by his own education and actions according to his own free will.
One of the beautiful things is that all religions call their believers to judge themselves and forbid them to judge others.
In the civilized society today, no individuals are given the right to judge, but this right is assigned to institutions. The individuals working in those institutions cannot judge individually, but they must do their jobs according to the regulations of the institutions. The more these institutions improve, the more mankind will enjoy true justice.
Please rethink.

If you define "bad person" as people who do bad things, then no, you're not a bad person if you don't believe in God. A lot of nonbelievers are very good people. But all human beings are sinners (we are impure in our soul and spirit--ever had an impure thought in your life?) If you don't believe in God and accept the fact that He has given you forgiveness, and let Him take away that sinful nature, then you continue to have that sinful nature. You can be as good a person as you can be, but that sin will never just go away. Only God can get rid of it.

Let's see. What is your deinition of a 'bad' person? Some define it as someone who 'does harm to others'. Others might say it's someone who has broken the law, either God's or man's.

I'd say the two are independent questions. You can believe in God all day long, and still break the law, or harm others. And you can not believe in God, and still do the same things.

There's also a difference in one who believes in God, and someone who has a personal relationship with God. There are many who think they are Christians, and who have royally missed the boat, no pun intended. The Bible even talks about it, in James 2, verse 19, that says "You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder."

You can believe 'in' God and still not believe God. So, I hope you can see why I come at it from that angle. I get very tired of those who call themselves Christians, and who aren't. They are religious all right, and turn others off. I'm not into religion. I'm into a personal relationship with God, and the only reason I go to what some call 'church', is to worship Him, and to fellowship with others who are into doing the same.

God loves you. so much, that He allowed His one and only son, Jesus, to pay the price for your sin, so that He could have a personal relationship with you. That's right, the God of the Universe loves you, and wants a relationship with you. The choice is yours, though, as He gave us all free will, to either repent of sins, and by His grace be saved, or reject Him, and spend eternity in Hell, or the total absence of God.

So, what's your choice? I can tell you from personal experience how amazingly great His grace is, and how my heart is filled with joy when I am in His presence. It is unlike anything I have ever known. I am tremendously blessed, and unexplainably loved by Him. I don't deserve it, can't earn it, and am constantly amazed at His awesome love.

And there's no complicated formula for being saved. It's simple, as a matter of fact. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)

I wish you the best in your quest for happiness and joy. I've found mine through a personal relationship with my creator, the most awesome God of this universe, who loved me, with all my faults, and would have sent His son to die on the cross, even if I had been the only person on the face of the earth.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:16)

No. It does not mean you are a bad person. It just means you have either not examined the evidence, refused to believe the evidence, or choose to ignore the evidence. In any case, you are still responsible to God for what you do. I would seriously investigate the truth if I were you (if you don't believe in God).

No. It mean you are not ground in the truth or the knowledge of God. If you knew God the Heavenly Father and knew all that He has done for you and I you would believe and you would love Him. First I think you should get to know Him before you can say you believe or do not believe in Him

Well, if you want to go by what God says, then yes. In fact everyone is bad. Romans 3:10 says, "There is none righteous no not one." So technically no one is good.
Of course if you don't believe in God, its not going to matter to much what the Bible says anyway, is it?

My personal theory is, if you don't believe in God, you don't believe in Satan. Therefore, 'good' and 'bad' don't exist. Therefore, you shouldn't care if you're good just as much as you don't believe there is a God.

If you believe that we are 'just here' (not created by an intelligent being), then apparently we 'just are', we are neither good nor bad, nor should good or bad exist, and we are just being.

So you really shouldn't care.
Does anyone understand my reasoning?

A person does not have to be religious to be a good person. How you treat others, their property, and respect for their person and value system makes you a good person.

There are very religious people who are "bad." Going to church regularly, believing in God or some other religious system, does not make you good.

A bad person is someone who kills without just cause, who steals or robs, who hurts others without regard to their feelings. And, in my opinion, going to church for forgiveness does not automatically make the person "good."
