It will be easier if you are grown and on your own. That way if your parents are upset you can retreat to your own space while they deal with their initial reaction. It may be more difficult if you are a teenager, as you will have to stay under the same roof as them. Check out www.pflag.org for help in coming out of the closet. They have some great information and may be able to help your parents work through their feelings as well. I am sorry this is an issue at all. I hope one day sexual orientation will be accepted whatever the case may be and no one has to be afraid of telling the truth about who they are. Be patient with your parents and remember that even if they are upset at first, the surprise will wear off and they will most likely come around. I have many friends that have gone through this and in the end everything was OK.
Good luck!!!!!!!

Just relax, get them together in a controlled environment and just flat out let them know. Dont beat around the bush and ask them if they could listen while you talk. Then after you're done with everything that you have to say then let them speak. You'll be fine trust me.

well if you're grown and independent why should you worry. tell them, they'll either accept it or they won't. we're not in the dark ages anymore you know. if it does shock them, be patient with them though. (i say this because i don't know what sort of generation we're dealing with here). but honestly, i think most parents know if their kids are gay or straight. most just live in denial.

Don't panic.... yet. Wait until your ready to tell them. There are no rules as when you have to tell them, or tell them at all for that matter. It is your life - not theirs after all. They might eventually ask and then it will easy. You simply answer "yes, I am". That worked for me. Oh..... and don't panic. hehehe good luck.

Just do it. Wether they accept it or not is another story. my brother came out 5 years ago and my father still doesnt accept it. You are who you are no matter what. Free yourself of the burden of hiding it from them.

It's what you want to be, tell them sure they'll understand what makes you happy. If my sons told me I would be glad they could talk to me so long as they were happy.
