why are people so stupid?

Obviously, that's a generalization. And we all know that "all generalizations are false" -- my favorite paradox. ;-)

But seriously, the answer is quite complex. First of all, *everyone* makes "stupid mistakes" and asks "dumb questions" from time to time. Admittedly, though, some people (regardless of nationality, race, religion, etc.) just never seem to learn. This has a lot to do with how you're reared as a child, how your culture handles education, how you handle your own education, and (to varying degrees) your genetics.

In western society, the biggest influence, in my opinion, is our culture. We live privileged lives, and the ramifications for unintelligent behavior are quite mild compare to the rest of the world. Our society also does not value education -- calling intellectuals and smart people "nerds" and "geeks" while promoting homogeny through our media, pop culture, and religions. In regards to school, both parents and children view higher education as something where you *pay* for a degree -- a.k.a. a "piece of paper" that will get you a good-paying job. Few students bother to learn anything in their classes, and pessimistically treat most of their courses as worthless... rarely trying to find the value in them. (Personally, I always found value in my coursework, regardless of how incomprehensible, trite, and remedial they were.) On top of all that, students rarely try to put their new-found knowledge to use. As they say, "use it or lose it." Consequently, it often seems like most people have "lost it."

I don't know I just am. Everyone can't be smart some of us have to be Stupid. So I guess i just happen to be one of the stupid ones!!.. But then what can you expect from a Nutcase!!.. Why are people so stupid to ask such a stupid quesiton as that? Simple. No common sence. They think their doing a cool thing when they do something stupid. or.....they dropped out of school cuz of crack, weed, smoking ect. Never got a proper education. It really depends on what type of stupid your talking. (i mean math wise or doing stuff wise...it really depends on what type of stupid)

Because sometimes people fornicate with people they meet at family reunions and then they let their kids watch tv from the time they get home from school until the time they go to bed. There are plenty more reasons but that should account for about 90% of it.

they are born just fine. After a selective education, a brainwashing religion, a couple trojan horses get through with them its all down hill and only the strong survive.

then there is a mindless television, fairweather friends, corupt system, poor parenting, bs radio and you have people that can't think for themselves and hate the world.

With all that breach of trust i do not blame them.
