Is it okay to have some white? Like a skirt with a white background but with blue designs on it?

Yes, that's fine. The goal is to avoid anyone wearing all white. That's reserved for the bride.

Yes, it is fine. The poor taste is in wearing a totally white dress or outfit. My mother wore a dress to my cousin's wedding a few years ago that was a white background with varying colour floral pattern on it. No problems at all and, if the bride had a problem with it, she would have said something.

Yes, some white is fine. Here's my pet peeve about weddings--you are also not supposed to wear black, and yet most women do that now. You go to an evening wedding, and it looks like a funeral! The idea is to look HAPPY, and to not upstage the bride by wearing her color.
I went to a wedding on New Year's Eve, and the entire bridal party, including the bride's mother, all wore white. It was a "snow ball" themed wedding. I liked it, except for the bride's mom. I thought she could have left that for the younger people, you know?

Yes I feel that your outfit is okay for the occasion. I think this idea stems from people actually coming to weddings wearing all white to someone Else's wedding. I remember when a cousin of mine was upset that she wasn't in the bridal party and actually showed up in a replica up the bridesmaids dresses.

Just remember the bride is the star of the day and often she will be dressing again before she departs for the night. If by some slim chance she has a similar dress how will you feel. Stick to something off white honey, your day will come.

Sure. I went to a wedding and the bride chose a red dress instead! Very unconventional. So today it's sometimes hard to know what to wear!

Wear what you want as long as it is tasteful. Some human being made up all those hard and fast wedding rules--they aren't written in stone by God--wear that skirt girl!!

well, if you go by the rules:
you don't wear white to avoid upstaging the bride
you don't wear black because it's mourning
you don't wear purple, because it is penance color
you don't wear red, because it would be sexually aggressive.

so if you follow these, you end up in pink, pale green or baby blue. Bridesmaid dresses, anybody???

wear white, as long as it isn't a long dress made of sparkling lace. Wear black, if it is cute, sexy, and definitely not sad. mix it up, and be ready to party!!!

That's fine, you are just not supposed to wear all white because it will take away from the bride's special day.
