WE HAVE BEEN VACATIONING IN PUERTO RICO EVERY SEPTEMBER FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS. WE FIND THE WEATHER WONDERFUL ..HOT DURING THE DAY (BUT NOT HUMID) WITH SHOWERS AND/OR STORMS IN THE AFTERNOON OR EVENINGS. IF YOU TRAVEL DURING THIS TIME YOU WILL FIND MUCH DISCOUNTED LODGING AS SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER ARE THE SLOWEST MONTHS DURING THEIR LOW SEASON. Puerto Rico is a tropical island, therefore the weather is very unpredictable. It won't be cold, that's for sure; but since it's hurricane season you might encounter some rain. It will be hot, so dress accordingly, one good thing there is always a fresh breeze that cools you off. While the hurricane season starts in June 1 and ends November 30, Puerto Rico´s peak season is during the month of September (first 21 days of the month).
Conditions (rain, humidity, thunderstorms) will vary depending on the region you will be staying. For example, if you stay in the Southwestern, close to the town of Guánica, you won´t be expecting to much rain as you will find in the East. Guánica State Forest, also know as Guánica Dry Forest is located in a dry area receiving approximately 30-35 nches of rain during the year. El Yunque, in one of its four ecosystems, receives more than 200 inches of rain.
