For those of you who listen to rock there is a new song out talking about Babylon the Great. Much of the lyrics are taken directly from Revelation chapters 17 and 18. Who does this harlot represent and why is she destroyed? Who is represented by the beast that destroys her? Assuming that we understand who this represents, what action does this imply that Christians need to take?

In Revelations, God speaks of Babylon, the great whore. I don't question God's word. Babylon will be destroyed I take it, in about the same way as Sodom and Gommorah was. Now It doesn't say who or what Babylon is. It could even be the US. Billy Graham, I think it was, said God would soon have to judge America or apologize for Sodom and Gomorrah, and I can't picture God apologizing for anything to anyone. Peace.

It is the Roman Catholic System. Need to read the bible and keep all ten of the Commandments instead of following the Catholic teaching that says you need to worship on Sunday, the venerable day of the sun, a day which there is no scriptural authority as the Catholic church states. It is the one that changed the day and is the one that will do as it did in the dark ages. That is to dictate how to worhip and if you don't do it their way, you will not be able to buy or sell and will have a death decree put on you.

The Bible interprets itself. to understand any image employed in Revelation, you basically ought to refer back to the appropriate literal use of that image interior the previous testomony. Why the previous testomony? with the aid of fact the recent testomony all of us be responsive to did no longer exist on the time that any of the guy gospels or epistles of Christ's disciples and apostles have been written. the only "Scriptures" in life at that element became what we call the previous testomony.         The literal city of Babylon (which all of us be responsive to from King Nebuchadnezzar's time) gets its call from the city and tower (Gen. 11:4) which became outfitted via Nimrod interior the land of Shinar (Gen. 10:8-10). Nimrod's city became called Babel (Gen. 11:9; good's H894: "confusion") in view this is the place the lord god at a loss for words the single language (Gen 11:6) into many languages so as that the human beings does not have the skill to unify in apostasy against Him.         Likewise, it became interior the city of Babylon, under Nebuchadnezzar, that a guy first tried to dictate who and how adult adult males have been to worship. hence, we are in a position to understand that Babylon the super is a logo that's employed to represent religious confusion and apostasy -- and a device which tries to dictate who and how adult adult males are to worship.         Why can we ought to get out of certainly one of those device? we don't decide for to be in open apostasy against God. All people who're would be destroyed interior the Lake of hearth on that very final Judgment Day. Likewise, we don't decide for to be in confusion as to the flaws that are actual of God (holy) and the flaws that are of the traditions of adult adult males (profane). as long as we proceed to be in confusion, there is the possibility that we are nonetheless in apostasy against God and the flaws of God. instead, we ought to be Noble Bereans (Acts 17:a million-13) whom will learn the be responsive to God for ourselves and shed all the traditions of adult adult males that have been surpassed right down to us via that device that's named "Babylon the super." God bless.

The only action you are supposed to take is to cast the beam out of your own eye before you speak of the splinter in your brother's eye.

Swedenborg states what all those symbols mean.
