If he is just a guest then a suit will be OK. A lot of places where you rent Tux's also now offer suit rentals. Call around to places and see. Especially a Jim's Formal Wear. They have something call Club Maxum Suits.

His attire should be based on the formality of the wedding. You should know by the invitation what the dress is going to be for the wedding. As a guest, I'm sure a nice suit will do. I have never heard of renting a suit (though it may be possible). I recommend that he just invest in a nice suit because you never know when you will be invited out somewhere nice.

the first response is about right, for men it's usually etiquette to wear a suit and that suit needs to, of course, have a necktie. ONLY it it's very formal, a tux...but you would know it they said "black tie affair" or "formal evening" event
to rent a suit http://www.clubmaximsuits.com/findastore.htm
Tuxes are for the wedding party and EXTREMELY formal weddings. But you will still be formal in a suit and since you are the friend and he's just your boyfriend, just wear your best.

A suit would work. Any place that rents a tux will probably also rent suits. Also, dress pants and a jacket would also do fine.

If it's a black tie wedding, then he needs a tux. If it's a standard evening wedding, then he needs a suit or at the very least, a sport coat and tie. He needs to match your formality, so if you are wearing a cocktail gown, he should wear a suit. If you are in a sun dress, a sport coat and tie would be fine.

He should just wear a suit. Usually only members of the groom's wedding party or certain men from the bride's/groom's family wear a tux.

Is it really formal? If you received an invitation and inside there was a menu card to choose from for different meats then he needs to be formal and wear a suit. But if not then it is probably semi-formal which means he can still wear a suit or he can just wear black pants and a shirt and if he wants he can throw a tie in there.

A suit for sure! Nothing worse than being under-dressed for a wedding! look in the yellow pages or on line under formal wear in your area, you may find a suit rental place....if not go to Mervyns if you can't afford anything fancy....if you can, go to Eli Thomas Menswear in Santana Row-but only if you live in San Jose!Good Luck & have a great time at the wedding.

A suit should be fine, He can coordinate colors to match your dress. A tux is def not necc, unless of course he were in the wedding.
