You need to work on tact. Your question can be very offensive to some people.

Ancient Egyptians were not of the black race. This was a belief widely promoted during the civil rights movement. Modern genetics has allowed us to examine many of these issues and so far the majority point out that the Ancient and Modern Egyptians are very much related and both are closely related to Caucasian people, rather than Black-Africans. The art of Ancient Egyptians made a very clear difference when depicting their own race & that of the Black-African.
People of true Egyptian blood are extremely rare. Modern Egyptians are a mixture of several races.Probably more information than you actually needed but this site differentiates:

As for the second part of the question, where I live the black people are not anymore buff that caucasians. But ir does seem that they are either really, really thin or really, really obese.

The Nubians were definitely "black" and had a very powerful kingdom, art and archetecture. At one time, their Kings rivaled the pharoahs. Due to some creeping racism, his culture has not been as high-profile as others of the region. I think I saw a show on this very subject on the History Channel--perhaps Discovery. Those web sites sell DVDs and do describe the contents--might be called "Nubia, the Lost kingdom." Also, through Netflix, I found an excellent series of DVDs on Africa, narrated by Harry Gates, a well-known, well-informed, and very balanced sociology scholar. I seems that because of a history of discrimination and out-right slavery and abuse, many people of black African heritage refer to themselves as Arabic. By the way, I read that the word "slave" comes from "Slav"--I believe the Slavs were made slaves, but do not know when. The History site(and Discovery) sometimes provides many different articles, time-lines, analyses, maps, pictures pertaining to one topic, so you could go to those sites and search your topic. A book that came out about 10 years ago and didn't do too well contended that the idea that the ancient peoples we have regarded as caucasian were actually Black rested on faulty scholarship and sometimes non at all. But I do not know enough about this. I do know that many of the achievements of Black Africans were obscured and appropriated as colonists carried out the scholarship and controlled the digs.

Most Egyptans were not black. The Nubians were black. Modern Egyptians are by and large Caucasian. Ancient Egyptians ditto.

The build of a lot of black people is a very athletic one--long arms and legs--notice how many blacks make it to the top in a lot of athletics.

Genes have something to do with it. Environment has something to do with it. (I mean climate, living conditions, things like that).

I believe that ancient Egyptians were ethnically diverse, with some "black" (African) people, some Arabian, and some Mediterranean. In terms of what race or ethnic groups were rulers vs. which were laborers, etc., I have no idea.

As to your question about why black people are so "buff," you may be able to draw some generalities as to body sizes and shapes, etc. However, it has nothing to do with 300 years of slavery. Physical conditions do not affect genetics. If such differences exist, they have existed for millenia.

May God bless and keep you.

First let me say the race is given way too much importance for in the end it mattears not what race but what kind of human being you were that determines i its heaven or hell. What race the ancient Egyptians were is still in large a mystry for all we have to go on are fragments.Ancient Egypt consisted of Syria,Nubia,Lybia and Egypt and streched acroos Africa and into parts of thea Middle East. King Tut in some of the Masks of his crypt is painted black, some brown, some beige and white-so probably not all black and not all white but a mixture. Back then races werenot as clearly defiined in terms but ran a gamut of colors but even then black was the most undesirable. Modern Egyptians do not call themselves black although the actual color depends what region you come from.No the blacks today unless they come from that the lands that were ancient Egypt are not descendants for came from Mainly Africa-Southern Africa for to be shipped to Europe /America/Cuba/Haiti and so on from North Africa would have been more difficult due to land terrain and not close to sea and ocean ports. Was reading just today how the mjority of African American women are overweight and unhealthy -certainly not buff-look at the general population. The ***** Male in gerneral is in better physical appearance for they are descendants of S.African tribes who were hunters, women ate a llot fo when slaves had to in order to work in the fields.

Were ancient Egyptians black, no, they were the same people that modern Egyptians are.

The ancient Egyptian engineers and architects were very smart and most of their poor couldn't read. I think that General Colin Powell, Martin Luther King and many other great examples of brilliant African/African Americans would disagree with your statement about modern blacks.

300 years of anything does not chance any race or group of people. As far as "buff" many people of African decent have excellent genetics, which would contribute to faster muscle growth, and have lower instances of some disease that whites have although they do have some diseases that aren't prevalent among whites (Such as sickle cell anemia)

You're like the boy who cried wolf.
I think I once heard in a National Geographic program that we are all descendants of the people from Africa. I'm not sure if I heard that right. I like those programs about early man, I find them very interesting. That program was 3-4 years ago, and I don't remember too much detail. You say why are black people so buff, but what about the white people, we did a lot of heavy lifting in our "cave man" days (or what ever you want to call it) Our jaws and noses and body structure was heavier due to the climate we had to live in and food we had to eat,. terrain we had to walk on... well I could go on but why don't you watch those educational programs. The white people were slaves to, sort of. We weren't called slaves, just indentured servants. When a family member turned 18 and the family couldn't afford to support them they went to live and work in another families home until they had the money to support themselves. In the census records I have of my family members, many of them were indentured servants. I imagine they weren't treated like royalty when they worked for other families. But it wasn't as bad as what was forced upon the black people, or african american's. The african americans weren't given a choice. Just like the Indians they were treated poorly. Well I've probably said too much.

The ancient Egyptians were not black...they were olive skinned. The Nubian's were black. Egyptians also married their own family members to keep the royal blood line. They may have been a great civilization, but not very smart when it came to inbreeding.

Maybe the ancient Egyptians were black, we can't know that exactly. Would that be a problem? Blacks are smart too, do you have something with the blacks?

Some of the Egyptian royalty did marry royalty from other parts of Africa. Queen Nefirtiti (rumored to be black) was a Nubian princess before she married Tut's father. It is quite possible Egyptian commoners also married commoners from other parts of Africa but we will never know for sure.
