My 9 week old Chihuahua puppy got her first booster shot out of a series of 4 shots last week.

Can I take her out for a walk on the street? Or, do I have to wait until she completes the booster shot series? Or should I continue keeping her in my back yard/house? Can she still catch Distemper, Parvo, etc.?

Thanks.

The thing you need to understand about vaccinations is that it wont stop your dog from catching these diseases, it just means that the dog's body has a better defense for fighting off the disease. The immunity that your pup would have received from her mum's milk wore off when she was 6 weeks old. This means that for the last 3 weeks she has effectively been UNVACCINATED. You should wait until 2 weeks after the 2nd shot to take your pup to areas frequented by other dogs ie. out on the street, the park etc. The time between when a dog catches a disease and when it show signs of sickness is called the Incubation Period, and for the diseases that your pup has been immunised for the period is generally 7-14. In short, if she does catch a disease now you wont know it for at least a week anyway. Another good reason to keep her at home right now

Labs are very lively dogs and choose a minimum of two walks, 30 minutes each and each and every, each day. without perfect walks the canines will develop into lower than pressure and likely damaging. I do not forget that that is chilly and snowy yet I stay in Ontario Canda and it snows a heck of plenty and that i nonetheless deal with to get available with my dogs and walk. The canines has a lot skill pent up that the canines is pulling to get transferring speedier. attempt performing some jog with the canines to first eliminate some skill. then you somewhat ought to be able to commence leash and walk education. If the canines has too a lot skill the canines can't study. previously I commence any artwork out with a canines the canines is taken for a lengthy walk or run counting on the skill aspect of the canines. you could't practice a canines that has too a lot skill.

I think it will be fine. Furthermore one vet as even told me that the sooner (after the shots) he gets in touch with the outside world the more he will be defended against diseases. The only caution is other dogs liking him and such, for the first few months (as older dogs have already defenses he doesn't) but apart from that playing is more then fine.

I think you will be okay. There may be a chance to catch some dieseases, but the chances are slim. If you do take her for a walk make it around the block and take water with you seeing how it is so damn hot out.

it is best to be safe and keep your puppy away from all other dogs and areas where other dogs have been. its probably a low chance that she will get anything but its better to be safe than sorry. this way you don't have to worry that she came infected with something and she doesn't have to get sick because of possibly catching something. be safe for her!

Really, if you keep your pup on a leash, you'll be fine. Just don't let her get into dog poo or tangle with a bunch of strange dogs just yet.

Just let her play in a small area outside or inside.
