NO- I fly private!

I fly first class on long trips (Europe and Asia) usually on United or one of the Star Alliance carriers. The seats are comfortable, the service is good and the price is better than a private jet (although not as convenient). First class is definitely not what it used to be, even just a few years ago. The food is only good on international flights. Domestic first class is a joke. There have been some improvements in entertainment (with personal DVD players and first run movies), otherwise it's really just extra leg room and a wider seat.

On short hauls I fly private planes (usually a BeechJet 400). It's a small plane but it's cheaper than a LearJet, get's you there with no airport hassles (security, etc) and not that expensive.

I fly often enough to qualify for Elite status - this status is actually more valuable than the miles, because flying Northwest and Continental, I qualify for unlimited upgrades to First Class providing there is space up front.

It is a much nicer way to fly, but NO WAY would I pay for it, it is nicer, but not THAT much nicer.

"Yes, and usually that's because, I don't have to pay for it, one of the perks of being a Flight Attendant, so if it's available they upgrade me for Free as a courtesy, otherwise depending on the length of the flight and the price, I will go Business class or coach. No, I don't think real people can afford to if they are paying cash for it. Only with frequent flyer miles or millions in the bank.
