Oh my, yes, I totally agree! Especially to church, what in the world??? Jeans and a t-shirt? I don't even think I own a pair of sneakers anymore. I've been warped from watching "What not to Wear" I guess ;)

I do believe that most people have taken a very casual approach to dressing. This is true for eating (on the sofa, while driving?!) and speech (the type of acceptable language in movies, TV, songs and so on). I guess the movies your watching and the way people were could be compared to the height of the Roman empire and the way were are now could be like the Dark Ages of medieval times. Bring on the Renaissance!

Yeah, I especially love to watch the AMC movie classics in black and white where you don't see any of the women without an elegant dress, upsweep of the hair, gloves, matching purse, shoes and tasteful yet expensive jewels. And men are just oh so juicy, it makes you want to just squeeze them when you see them looking dapper in a suit with a nice watch and shoes to match. There are a few people who still believe in this type of dress, but then people mock them in public like, "Why is he wearing a suit, it's Friday?" It's like if you aren't a businessman, pastor or attending a funeral or wedding, you aren't supposed to wear a suit anymore. People are discouraged from dressing up sometimes because people stare and gawk at you, mostly because they can't afford it and don't have the fashion sense to put themselves together that well. But I don't care what people think or say, I dress up because when you look good, you feel good. Everyone is so caught up in trends these days so flipflops have become the dress code and some jobs are even starting to allow them to be worn. But as soon as someone slips and falls in them, then they'll wish they would've worn proper shoes.

Not at all, I just spent $285 bucks on a shirt over the weekend from Dolce G. I personally take pride in the way I look and love to dress with class. I think you're just hanging out with the wrong crowd. there are more options for fashion now than there have ever been, including vintage wear which is what you mentioned in your original question.

Good. People should be running around in t-shirts, sweats, and flip flops. Life is too short...we should live comfortably and not feel like we have to dress for other people or wear what is "proper".

Yes! Dress shirts for men and skirts for women need to make a hardcore comeback.

people tend to go to extremes these days. I prefer pants, and a clean t-shirt because its comfortable, but would never wear flip-flops . what I hate is girls in skin tight miniskirts, thongs and halter tops. I get the urge to tell them which corners the hookers stand on

What's wrong with wearing these clothes? Assuming your clothes are clean, neat, not stained, no holes, etc., why shouldn't you be allowed to be comfortable?
If you work in an office and are expected to wear a suit, then yes...sweat pants would be out of line. :)

Yes, I agree that people today are generally more sloppy in the dress sense. Back in those days, people had style!

well it depends on how people views other and their back rounds for example with offending anyone their are some people who grow up around other people who dress a certain way and if they and then when they encounter others think it weird or wrong the way they dress so if u grow up around elegance you'll think T's are wrong on your judgment
but to me yes i do think so

I like watching the old movies too. As for dress code...in general yes. ...although you won't catch me dressed up in my nicest clothes unless I am going to church or it is required by my job.
