When the truth is, you really don't want to work....This is for all the lazy American men out there. If your American, and you work for a living, then more power to you. This is not for you....
But for those moaning about their situation, no excuses, this is a trend in our culture, what do you have to say?
Leave those alone who wish to work for a living, heaven knows, someone has to pick up the slack....
But for you slackers crying about no jobs or illegals taking your jobs, get off your lazy butt and get to work already!

Thank you for the great article!
Once you have 200,000 in a bank and own a house , you really don't have to work. You can live off interest rates( CD gives you 5%, that's 10,000, which covers your food and most bills).
It has nothing to do with immigration-illegals take only low-wage jobs, which are very easy to find anyway, people simply get tired and lazy with time-the benefits of getting older.

Illegals depress the wages because they will work nearly any job for minimum wage (or less). Construction jobs use to pay an equivalent rate of nearly $20.00 per hr. Now, the wage is minimum. You can still get a job working in construction, but not at a rate that could support a wife and children.
ALL of our wages are becoming more and more depressed because of excess labor. Even the big shots are loosing because of the inevitable increase in taxes that must happen to cover the added social expenses associated with this class of people.
I have seen normal American citizens canned so that illegals could take the jobs. This is a very serious problem and we must solve it soon!

I cannot believe your continued ignorance here! You have been on here a very long time and you still spout the same rhetoric that you did from the beginning. It is not a matter of Americans being lazy and Americans not being able to compete skillswise with illegal immigrants - it's that illegal immigrants will work for less money because they can afford to when they don't pay taxes on their earnings. I hope you seriously read the posts here that disclaim what you say because you are SO WRONG!!!
And, after reading this article, I don't even understand why you have posted this in the Immigration forum. From what I read here, most of these people have basically opted out of the workforce in favour of early retirement. I don't see them as being a "drain" on society as illegal immigrants are. They are living off their savings, RRSPs, some qualify rightly for disability benefits, some are living off their investments in their homes and this has nothing whatsoever to do with the topic of illegal immigration.
You, my dear, are grasping at straws!!

The issue is competition in the workplace. LEGAL immigrants have the right to compete with Americans for any job. ILLEGAL ALIENS HAVE NO RIGHTS TO ANYTHING. If Americans are so lazy, how did we get the biggest economy in the world? Maybe Americans should be as hard working DIGGIN HOLES as those subhumans south of the border. ILLEGAL ALIENS ARE NOT IMMIGRANTS - THEY'RE CRIMINALS.
A successful society can't allow criminals to invade their society and expect to remain successful. Haven't you been watching what's goin on in the middle east? Why doesn't Mexico export their good lookin educated people? All the export is the illiterate criminal scum. WE DON"T NEED 'EM...

I agree with you about getting the lazy ones to work. And that they shouldn't be complaining. But what about the rest of us who DO work, I don't care what kind of slack you are taking up, the entire point is this, "If you are in this country ILLEGALLY, then YOU have no rights, and least of all no right to complain, Get LEGAL, or GO HOME"!! I don't know why we cannot get you to understand that this is OUR country, you do NOT belong here unless you are here legally you are (whether you believe it or not) stealing from American citizens and breaking our laws. I don't need to read anymore articles about this subject to know what needs to be done. Just go home. If you Must stay to support your family them go about it LEGALLY and I will accept you with open arms. But as of right now you have absolutely NOTHING to complain about (try complaining in your own country and see how far you get!). GOOD LUCK!

It is true. I have experienced it first hand. i had a painting company, with about a dozen people working for me. I lost many contracts to those who hired illegal's, because I chose to play by the rules.
Paying someone around 12 dollars an hour comes to about 20 dollars an hour out of my pocket after taxes, workers comp, insurance, etc.
Now, if I have to put my labor bid in at 22 dollars an hour, and my competitor pays his illegals 7 dollars under the table, who do you think will win the bid?
Stop thinking in such simple terms.

Please get your facts right! Illegal immigrants are criminals who do not deserve my taxes. Go to the back of the line and come here legally like all every decent law abiding legal immigrant does. Or better yet, work real hard and improve the living wage in your government, how about protesting there. Just an Idea.

Do you really think you persuade anyone to your opinion with this approach?
Wages have demonstrably decreased in areas where Americans used to perform the jobs illegal immigrants perform now. Even illegal immigrants are leaving states like California due to the excess competition from those willing to take slave wages.

Because it's true. People quit their jobs because they may want to find a better one. But when they can't, all the other jobs out there have too low wages! So excuuuuse me if some people just want better jobs!
