My sister has an excessive amount of ear wax buildup. She cleans out her ears everyday, but it still builds up, and sometimes it clogs her ears and she can't hear. She's tried the ear washes, and it doesn't help. Is this a medical condition that she'd need to take medication for?

Some people have exessive earwax buildup in one or both ears. There are products you can buy to soften the wax and then gently force it out with water, but I find this to be very unpleasant. If the buildup is really severe, there could be a medical condition that needs treatment.

The best thing to do is to get your sister to ask her doctor. The doctor can determine if the wax is severe enough to merit taking steps to remove and/or reduce it, or if there is a medical condition involved. There are some people who need to have small devices placed in their ears to drain the wax, but this is rare. Your doctor can always help you far better than any stranger on the internet.

Good luck!

She may need to go to the doctors and talk about the possibilities of having tubes in her ears to help drain out the wax.

That happened to me and I had to go to the doctor and get it drained. Tell her getting it drained is the best option. I know I tried everything but eventually using qtips or ear washes ended being painfull. After my ear was drained they suggested i get tubes in my ears. It worked.

probably not. Does she work out? Sometimes if you sweat a lot you will get this. Try an ear wash instead of just q-tips.
