Its funny how we have time to sit and argue over different religions and such but we dont have time to read God's word. Have you read it today? God Bless!

I have read it all the way through, yes. I like the New Living Translation the best. But when I first read the Bible, I read the King James Version. I understand most translations. You need to read the Bible everyday. It is the Word and it is a protection against the evil one. Hide God's word in your heart.

A very little bit today, but I've been mostly throught the protestant bible. Through some of the books removed by the protestants. Some of the less sure historical text that were left out. Some of the Koran. Some commetaries on both the koran and the bible. Some literature on Atheism and Agnosticism. I'm sure I left something out. Be well rounded, read a good bible, like the Oxford or NAB and use a literary commentary (like the Oxford)when something troubles you.

I just finished reading some Matthew 28: Nope I don't think I will ever finish reading. I seems like the more I read the more I find stuff that I didn't see when I was younger or stories I hear preachers teach on and it goes on and on. I think over the years I have read the bible all the way through but not in one year or in one sitting. I don't think I will really ever finish reading it though. I just finished my second bible study in Hebrews and I found stuff that I didn't learn the first time.

Yes, if one is going to say "it says so in the Bible" one better have read it.

One of the first things to jump out at me was all that was not taught to me in Sunday School about the massacres, slavery, rapes of women, and other violence of the Old Testament. Also, I was much older before I realized that the majority of the New Testament was letters written by a missionary to towns he had travelled through and that the "rules of behavior", such as women should not speak in church, were decreed by this guy.

The second thing to jump out at me was that the whole story isn't always told in Sunday School. For example, the story of Samson and Delilah is always portrayed as a woman betraying the man who loves her. If you read the chapters beforehand, the ones which are not taught in Sunday School, you'll see that Samson committed great crimes, including murder, against this woman, her family, and her neighbors. She was seeking revenge for her kinsfolk.

I'm not a Christian, but I have read the Bible a few times all the way through. I think if you are going to argue about something, you need to know what you are argueing about.

No but I have read Lord of The Rings cover to cover, including the appendices.

And all of Dragon Riders of Pern series, Pegasuus series by Anne Mcaffrey as well.

And All of Isaac Asimov.

And Jeffrey Archer ,

Michael Crichton (Except for the last book and Eaters of the dead)

Most of RobinCook.

I read only quality fantasy/fiction. That's why I never read it.

Who says its gods word??? The people who wrote it??? They have lied and changed so much of "Gods word" reading the Bible all the way through would be a complete waste of time for me.

I've read it as a child and teenager then realized that if I'm not supposed to believe in things like elves, fairies and dragons, why should I believe in a book that talks about a mythical person with amazing powers from above. I just don't buy it Kiddo!

I read every single damn word once during a summer in my teens.

It was a bit of a chore actually, but once I'd decided on reading it all I was pretty determined I'd just read the whole thing.

Kinda wish I'd spent my teens doing other things now...

It's not worthy of reading all the way through. It was intended to be a reference, guide to live by. It fails miserably at both due to contradiciton and historical inaccuracy...Additionally, it never gives any clear picture of time elapsing or passing. PEACE!
