How do you pray the rosary? I am a Catholic but I don't know how to say the rosary since I just joined the church last Easter.

Congratulations neophyte!!

Don't let the anti-catholics get you down. The rosary can be very powerful.....here is a site that is pretty detailed:

And most of the Hail Mary is taken directly from scripture.....what a beautiful way to meditate on the mysteries of Jesus' life, death and resurrection.

Congratulations. The Rosary happens to be a prayer form without a fixed structure. It has varied greatly in the last 20 centuries. It was first talked of around the year 200 and spoken of as ancient even then and handed down by the first Christians.

A great book to read is "Praying by Hand." I cannot remember the author.

If you are looking for the Rosary most Americans speak of as the Rosary, then you are looking for the Dominican Rosary. Try this:

Let prayer transform your life, it will if you let it. I strongly recommend the Rosary to meditate on the life of Jesus with His mother and to be with the Father who created all.

Rosary is complex, but an amazing prayer.

1. Sit still.

2. Say aloud the prayers of the Rosary. Pamphlets are available at your church or online.

3. Think about the mysteries. I find that my rosary time is far more powerful when I read Scripture prior to praying my rosary, which makes meditating on the mysteries far easier. As I SAY the words of the prayers around the beads, my mind is picturing the stories of each mystery; focusing on the lines of scripture that I recall; imagining the deeper meaning behind it all. THAT is the secret to the Rosary.

4. Take it a bite at a time, don't get discouraged. As you get better at it, you'll find it to be one of the most powerful prayers in your life.

Why are you praying the rosary anyway? It is an invention of the Catholic church. There are others such as forbidding priests to marry which is clearly going against nature. The former Catholic monk, Martin Luther, pointed this out years ago. Read your Bible instead of listening to priests. A former Catholic.

Well I am not a catholic but may I say find a new church. Not saying catholics cant be saved, but why do you feel you must go to a priest to ask for forgivness. You can pray to Jesus for that. Follow Jesus.

I was raised in a catholic home, but by my own will have escaped the clutches of evil, a rosary is an idol used to feel closer to jesus, the virgin mary and god, do not put such faith in idols.

Ask a buddhist.
They are, after all, the inventors of the prayer bead.
Catholics only started the practice after the Spanish and Portugese visited Japan.
Like everything else in chrisitanity, this is a stolen practice that christians claim they invented.
Pious fraud may be a standard christian activity, but it's still fraud...
