Thought I had some lavendar essential oil to add to the incense I'm making later on for Lammas, but I can't find it ANYWHERE! It's too late for me to get some more, so is there anything I can use as a substitute, i.e. water? (Well, obviously not water!) Or does it matter if I just leave it out of the insence? (I'm burning it on a charcaol disk.)
ALSO, IF YOU'RE NOT PAGAN, WICCAN, OR FOLLOW ANYTHING OF THIS NATURE, OR PLAN ON CRITISIZING ME BECAUSE OF MY BELIEFS, THEN PLEASE DON'T LEAVE A MESSAGE - SOME OF THE THINGS PEOPLE SAY ARE REALLY OFFENSIVE. (OR DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME TRYING TO BE FUNNY) THANK YOU ;-)

What do you have against me, Stuart? Twice now you've said something hurtful. I'm only asking for some help. If you haven't got anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. That goes for other people too.

Could you go to a florist for it? Maybe even a Meijer!! I always thought that it's what's in your heart that matters, and if you find a suitable substitute for any ingredient you're missing, then it shouldn't affect the outcome. (By suitiable, I mean suitable to you and your standards.) I am still very new to the practice though, but my logic and what I've read have taught me this. Good luck to you and Blessed Be.

Merry Meet!
Well some other scents for Lammas are:
frankincense
sunflower
heliotrope
poppies
wheat
juniper
sandalwood
This website, http://members.fortunecity.com/magick2002/id28.htm has a lot of good recipes for Lammas (and other Pagan holidays) incense. But as we all know, the God and Goddess always know your heart and intentions and that's all that really matters. Have a Blessed Lammas!!

Do you have any dried lavender you can Use ? Or any other dried floral herbs ? If you don't , I don't think omitting the lavender is the end of the world. If you look through your cooking herbs and spices, maybe something will come to you to use as a substitute ?
OR go take a walk in your garden or a nearby park. Nature always provides.
Last resort if you are determined to use lavender is to buy a lavender plant at a garden centre and use the blossoms.

Blessed Be!
You can use Sandalwood & Rose oil. I've referrenced the page in the source below as to where I found the information. I'm not saying mine is more accurate than another site. It's just what I found quickly. Have a blessed Sabbat!

When I run out of a particular incense I go with Frankincense. It's a good universal incense. Happy Lughnasadh and blessed be!

Surrender yourselves to the One, the living, merciful, almighty God. Worship the Creator, not His creations.
Through faith in the atoning sacrifice of Jesus, I am a child of the Most High, who teaches us in Deuteronomy 18:10-12 to abhor all such occult practices.
"There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For all who do these things are an abomination to the LORD..."

If you've got patchouli, I bet you'd get a lot of the soothing effects of lavender, but it has a warmer scent to it.

I like to burn frankincense on a charcoal disk. Also try some rosemary and see how you like it. Sage, myrrh, and sandalwood are a good choice as well.

why not get a fresh lavender, dry it in the oven and crush it with pestel and mortar...In the States there are alot of metaphysical stores that have these oils...if you can, get the fresh ones.....it would be better.
